    Job Description

    SUMMARY:  Responsible for the recruitment, processing, orientation, and monitoring of tractor owners/operators with regards to Federal, State, Local and Hudd regulations. Ensures compliance with all regulations; maintains effective means of communication; conducts training, inspections and audits as required.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED.

    ·       Maintain working knowledge of Federal, State, and local government regulations pertaining to Hudd’s transportation policies and procedures – this includes the environment

    ·       Assist in the implementation of Maersk Inc.’s Integrated Management System as implemented by Hudd

    ·       Support the company’s commitment to Integrated Management Systems (IMS) certifications.

    ·       Serve as the local point of contact with regards to safety; keep local management informed of all safety related activities/requirements; assist with security program development at the local level

    ·       Assist with the following steps in the recruitment of new drivers:

    ·       process and orientate all new drivers for the facility.

    ·       initiate driver file; maintain and review driver orientation program.

    ·       conduct an initial policy guidance session with them and ensure they understand the HUDD Transportation safety policies and procedures

    ·       Review and process owner operators for qualification; monitor driver qualification files in accordance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR)

    ·       Collect all drivers Hours of Service Logs (HOS Logs) and daily inspection forms in accordance with FMCSR, responsible to audit logs and inspection forms for accuracy

    ·       Review and process the tractor maintenance program, schedule, and monitor vehicle inspections in accordance with Federal, State, Local and Hudd’s SOP

    ·       Support the Maersk Inc. Incident and near-miss reporting program; report, review and maintain incident and near-miss reports

    ·       Maintain records of all safety related activities, observations, analysis, and reports for the Trucking operation

    ·       As required, monitor, and update the National Safety Compliance (NSC) system; annually review all driving records to ensure drivers continue to meet the established qualification requirements for Hudd

    ·       Maintain driver’s files for random drug screenings and any inspections; communicate with drivers when they are required to complete a drug screening and ensure they are aware of the requirements under the regulation; ensure drivers who require an inspection are made aware of these requirements as well

    ·       Communicate daily with drivers concerning safety and compliance issues; coordinate and review reports resulting in roadside inspections

    ·       Monitor reporting of mileage and IFTA; ensure compliance with Federal, State and Local regulations

    ·       Keep the dispatch manager informed of any driver relations issues; work with manager to facilitate positive outcomes when required

    ·       Conduct training as required for owners/operators and Hudd colleagues; provide input on monthly reports as directed; distribute and post safety related communications throughout the facility as directed

    ·       Performs other job-related duties as specified by management

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:                                            

    No direct reports. Indirect supervision of driver fleet.

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:                                            

    ·       1-2 year of experience in with safety/DOT regulations

    ·       High school diploma or equivalent

    ·       Strong candidates are assertive, adaptable and resilient

    ·       Must be a self-starter

    ·       Strong multi-tasking and problem-solving abilities

    ·       Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    ·       Team player attitude

    ·       Proficient with systems (i.e.: Microsoft products; warehouse management systems, etc.)

    ·       Flexibility to work nights, holidays, and weekends
