JOB SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, the incumbent has responsibility for tactical operations of J.B. Hunt's portfolio of capital expenditures and other corporate spending. Under leadership direction, the incumbent will partner with the business to maximize company value by procuring goods and services through effective procurement practices, meeting business requirements, managing supplier relations, practicing innovative negotiation and buying methods, and efficiently paying suppliers according to agreed terms.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage assigned spend categories across all business units
Assist with individual and group training to disseminate specialized knowledge
Plan and drive procurement projects including conducting meetings and monitoring project timelines to accomplish department and project deliverables for their assigned division
Manage manual and automated procurement operational processes by leveraging the company procurement technology platform
Remain current with industry best practices and assigned spend categories through continuing education and trade publications to maintain subject matter expertise
Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to ensure an effective collaborative working environment where procurement is viewed as an advocate for the business
Analyze spend data from company procurement and financial systems to identify potential sourcing for small projects and produce effective spend data analysis
Provide category spend analytics at various levels to support strategic sourcing opportunities
Provide regular reporting and analysis to stakeholders regarding their category procurement activities, spend profile, savings results, and risk mitigation activities
Support systems implementation including user testing, integration testing, and process documentation
Maintain knowledge of existing capabilities to ensure maximum leverage of technology investments
Provide support for procurement related technology solutions, including, where applicable, contract management, inventory management, catalog management, procurement operations and administration, as well as interfacing with all upstream or downstream systems, such as accounts payable
Ensure compliance to the laws, regulations, and ethical standards set by the company and applicable regulatory agencies
Ensure system data integrity through appropriate internal controls
Review, update, and ensure system controls and reporting are in place to monitor/ensure compliance with P2P policies and best practices
Establish and periodically review P2P processes to ensure effective lifecycle operations
Provide accurate, efficient, user-friendly procurement services to the company, including P2P and supporting transactional services, such as an online catalog system, contract compliance validation of invoices, and invoice processing automation
Ensure suppliers are performing to their contracted obligations and meeting business unit expectations
Assist with the transition of negotiation/contracting phase to implementation phase
Manage basic contract negotiations and renewals to minimize business risks and costs
Pursue proactive monitoring and reporting of KPIs to anticipate and minimize supplier performance issues
Manage spend analytics, preparation and execution of negotiations, and development of final supplier recommendations
Provide sufficient business unit support for sourcing strategies and category/supplier implementation plans for a limited budget
Follow procurement operational specifications by working with key stakeholders to gather and analyze business requirements (demand, cost, quality, service)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance or Logistics AND 1-3 years of experience in procurement and supply chain management
Ability to manage the end to end procurement process
Experience conducting RFx events
Experience in reviewing and negotiating contracts and license agreements for goods and services
Experience with spend analytics, supplier management, negotiation, and category management
Expert-level experience with Microsoft Office Programs, specifically Excel, and ability to leverage where necessary other reporting and analysis tools
Expert-level financial, quantitative, and analytical skills
Working knowledge of spend optimization and consolidation
Basicknowledge of strategic sourcing methodology and process is a plus
Experience with extracting data from structured and unstructured data sources is a plus
Experience with one or more enterprise procurement systems is a plus
