This is a temporary position involving various duties that will supplement a student’s major field of study and/or provide an experience that is a useful addition to the student’s education and meaningful preparation for future professional employment.
Uses the computer (e.g., MicroStation Version 8) to revise existing plans & to develop new drawings and specifications for Traffic Engineering Manual, Sign Design Manual, Ohio Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (OMUTCD), wall chart, plan insert sheets & standard construction drawings.
Assists in gathering and organizing data; assists in engineering research and product testing related to various roadway construction items & traffic control devices (e.g., roadway barriers & safety devices, signals & markings, signals & controls, highway lighting); uses computer (e.g., Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel & Word) to create presentations, enter data into spreadsheets or into databases for analysis and prepare various documents as needed.
Participates in field visits and inspections.
Assists Roadway Engineering staff to perform various engineering/administrative duties as assigned (e.g., organizing files, scanning documentation, preparing manuals, website development) using a computer and related software (e.g., Intelligent Transportation System (ITS), Microsoft Excel & Access).
Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university and in good academic standing
