Job Description
The Security Manager will be responsible for the hands-on implementation, oversight, and continuous improvement of security strategies and programs across our logistics operations, ensuring robust compliance with CTPAT (Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism), TAPA (Transported Asset Protection Association), and AEO (Authorized Economic Operator) standards.
Preferred background in military or law enforcement particularly in roles focused on security operations or investigative work.
This tactical role focuses on securing physical assets, supply chains, and personnel. The Security Manager will be expected to actively mitigate risks and respond to incidents within a complex logistical environment with precision and urgency. The security manager must have strong investigative skills and proactively search for security risks to help prevent and mitigate security incidents, possess strong operational security expertise, a thorough understanding of global trade security standards, and proven leadership in managing security teams and systems. Facilitate the development of a security-conscious mindset within the district.
Own and report on all security-related communication with the following parties:
Expeditors District
Local police department
Customers
Service Providers
Regional / CHQ Security and Cargo Signal Teams
Support product and account management as needed with:
Security matters related to port authority, carriers, warehouses, AEO and CTPAT programs, etc.
Sales initiatives and facilitation of customer-specific security requirements
Support Cargo Signal sales engagements, as needed o Customers’ security teams including involvement in preparing for any customer security audits.
Keep district management and sales up to date on new security initiatives, training material and security-related information provided by Regional / CHQ Security.

** Security Manager Job-Specific Competencies**
Collects, evaluates and responds to information concerning potential security threats to include cybersecurity. Supports full implementation of Expeditors' Security Standards. Coordinates timely completion of all security-related functions to include timely action of Security Corrective Action/Preventative Actions with appropriate stakeholders. Maintains contacts with local and State law-enforcement. Supports Business Continuity Plan development and testing.
Proactive and organized for continuous and productive monthly call activity so that: calls are scheduled two weeks in advance, call schedule is full for the following week, completed call and joint call expectations are achieved monthly.
Leads all District Security incidents investigations whilst coordinating with Regional and CHQ resources. Collaborates and leads District employees and Management on completing and investigating Security Incidents in a timely manner.
Knowledgeable about security regulatory programs that affect the specific services Expeditors provides to our customers (both Government and Industry). For example: CTPAT; AEO; EC300; TAPA; ACAS; etc. Able to confidently present to and interact with internal and external stakeholders, including customers and governmental officials.
Manages and operates security systems (e.g. CCTV, intrusion alarm, access control, etc.) according to security requirements.
Collaborates with the District Service Provider Manager to ensure Service Providers meet Expeditors' Security Standards and general security controls.
Conduct regular onsite audits at Service Provider warehouses and transportation facilities to ensure full compliance with Expeditors' security standards.
Integrate investigative skills to perform security vulnerability assessments and simulated intrusion exercises to proactively identify and address potential weaknesses in physical and procedural defenses. These audits are designed rigorously evaluate compliance with Expeditors' enhanced security standards, identify vulnerabilities, and ensure corrective actions are enforced promptly.
Lead threat assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
