    Job Description

    The person in this role will be responsible for completing the mechanical portion of small to large capital projects in support of plant capital spending plans two facilities. The following tasks are required for the position: 

    • Preparation and coordination of the engineering deliverables being executed for the local project portfolios. Project work represents roughly 90% of total responsibility for the position.  
    • Assist management with studies of potential and future projects that require mechanical engineering expertise. 
    • Execute design studies, follow procurement, and manage fabrication phases of capital projects. 
    • Manage the installation, commissioning, and startup of capital project equipment at the two facilities. 
    • Work closely with the plant maintenance teams to provide engineering technical assistance support for the repair of existing equipment. This is in support of the production of the two facilities. Technical assistance work represents roughly 10% of the total responsibility of the position.

     

     

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

    • Provide Mechanical Engineering design for assigned projects including solid models, mechanical detail drawings, layout drawings, component specification, and bill of materials. 
    • Respect Michelin mechanical design standards in all equipment designs. 
    • Create Budgetary Estimates and Bid Packages on assigned projects. 
    • Create project documentation:  mechanical designs, technical offer, safety risk assessment, maintenance & operator training documents and user manuals. 
    • Facilitate the order of equipment and materials for assigned projects. 
    • Provide equipment acceptance inspections on equipment that comes into the plant. 
    • Provide Management of mechanical contractor or maintenance installation teams during equipment modifications & machine installations through Start-up and Commissioning. 
    • Interface with Plant production & maintenance customers, other engineers, and suppliers to complete equipment acceptance criteria. 
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and resolve issues. Both written and verbal communication skills are essential. 
    • Well organized and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

       

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent technical experience.
    • Preferred 4-6 years of Engineering Experience.
    • Experienced with mechanical design standards and able to complete mechanical systems designs using standard 3D-CAD design tools, SolidWorks preferred, AutoCAD is also a plus. 
    • Experience with Dossier document management systems required, TeamCenter is preferred. 
    • Managing correction of equipment non-conformities and acceptance. 
    • Robotic experience, configuration or knowledge is preferred, but not required.  Specific experience with Fanuc, Yaskawa, ABB is a plus.
