This is an opportunity to experience working at an emerging biotech in South San Francisco, learn, contribute, and have fun too. The ideal candidate is a self-starter and problem-solver who will work closely with the team to drive mission critical projects. Our internship program is designed to give you a flavor of working in early-stage drug discovery with the mission to deliver curative therapies that address the underlying drivers of heart disease. We will have events to learn about cross-functional areas and meet company executives.Responsibilities:Data analysis to understand the genetic architecture of heart failure and cardiomyopathies with the aim of identifying new drug targetsData visualization and interpretationPresenting research findings to the teamRequirementsCurrently pursuing B.S, M.S, or Ph.D. degree in computational biology, bioinformatics, biostatistics, statistics, or related quantitative fields. Eager to gain experience in early-stage drug discovery to learn about the role of human genetics in drug target discovery.Proficient in programming (R and Python)Strong interest and experience in machine learningStatistical and problem-solving skillsScientific curiosity and ability to work in a dynamic team-oriented environmentStrong communication skills and ability to present the research findings to the teamIdeally, experience in analyzing genomic datasets, especially GWAS and eQTL analysisThis is a full-time, 12-week summer internship onsite at our South San Francisco headquarters
