    DEPARTMENT: The Crib

    REPORTS TO: Manager, Youth Engagement Services

    POSITION SUMMARY: Supervises Program Specialists to provide 24/7 operation of The Crib.

    GENERAL PURPOSE: Promotes The Night Ministry's mission to aid homeless youth and their children by providing a safe and secure residence for them.

    ROLE QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Must be familiar with residential shelter operations

    • Must supervise, train, hire and review Program Specialist staff

    • Must act as representative of The Night Ministry at all times, and be an example to staff, residents, volunteers, and community members

    POSITIONS RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Primarily responsible, in partnership with the Mission Fulfillment team for data entry, tracking, and reporting for program management and funding reports. Oversees data management expectations of youth workers.

    • Hire, supervise, and train program staff.

    • Schedule all Program Specialist shifts; arrange coverage in event of absence (includes being on-call for all Program Specialist cancellations); serve as back-up coverage (work the shift) in the event no coverage is obtained.

    • Rotate on-call week-long coverage with other members of the Management Team to provide telephone and on-site assistance to youth workers as needed.

    • Collaborate with other members of the management team to develop and implement training programs for staff and volunteers.

    • Serve as liaison between youth workers and case managers to ensure that care plans are followed

    • Ensure that Program Specialist staff consistently and fairly implement The Crib rules and Night Ministry policy.

    • Track and monitor Program Specialist paid time off, attendance at mandatory meetings, and completion of required training sessions.

    • Represent The Night Ministry through networking, speaking engagements, and other community events.

    • Manage food service operations through supervision of Food Service Youth worker; purchase and selection of food.

    • Occasionally drive Night Ministry vehicles and transport shelter residents and their children as needed.

    • Attend all Crib management and team meetings as well as The Night Ministry's quarterly staff meetings as required.

    • Provide bi-weekly (at a minimum) supervision to all Program Specialist.

    • Assure that case file documentation is completed by Program Specialist correctly and completely; provide follow-up to correct errors or missing information in case files or other documentation within seven days.

    • Approve time records of all Program Specialist at least 48 hours prior to the approval deadline, as set by the Accounting Department.

    • Other tasks and duties as assigned by management.

    • Position's hours are approximately 75% night shift/25% administration 2:00am-10:00am or 7:00am-3:00pm. Flexibility is required.

    • According to The Night Ministry's policies, this position is expected to carry a cell phone and is eligible for partial reimbursement of monthly cell phone bills.

    ESSENTIALS SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

    • H.S. diploma or GED, plus at least 5 years experience working with youth required; Bachelor's degree in social service or related field preferred.

    • Demonstrated experience working successfully with at-risk youth.

    • Previous management and supervisory experience or at least 5 years of experience working in a residential facility.

    • Ability to respond to emergencies calmly and appropriately, in compliance with Night Ministry/The Crib policies and procedures.

    • Maintain a flexible schedule, including some evenings and occasional weekend shifts to assure supervision of all direct reports.

    • Current driver's license, evidence of insurability.

    • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team.

    • Must pass a DCFS background check, which includes a criminal background check.

    • Exemplary interpersonal skills.

    NONESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Master's degree in social services field

    • Spanish language skills

    • Evidence of current First Aid/CPR training

    Compensation: position offers a base salary with a benefits package.
