This position is a great opportunity for the candidate desiring to launch their career in Energy, Communications, Public Affairs or Community Investment. Various positions available. Responsibilities * The students responsibilities will be dependent on their team and work location. Some of the possible work responsibilities include but are not limited to: * Assist communication department operations; * Coordinate the development of internal communication content and publications * Write in a variety of styles (blog, letter to the editor, newsletter) * Conduct research and compile background information to contribute to the development of materials or responses to key issues * Assist with the development and implementation of employee event plans * Prepare, format and coordinate materials and presentations for internal and external audiences * Assist with public awareness activities and the development of stakeholder and community outreach plans; * Support teams with the execution of solutions that address external stakeholder concerns; * Support open houses and public meetings in asset areas; * Create tailored reports for operating regions and project on Community Investment spend and impact; * Write social media content tailored toward specific Community Investment partnerships; * Develop activation plans and other communications content for partnerships; * Research and identify partnerships in project and operations communities; * Report on social investments in monthly and quarterly quantitative and qualitative reports for leadership; * Cultivate, sustain and manage effective relationships with stakeholders and community partners; * Strategize, plan and implement grassroots strategies to build community relationships and achieve organizational goals; * Identify and execute tactics to engage and educate employees on community investment initiatives. Qualifications and Education Qualifications * TransCanada is committed to safety. Education / Experience * Must be enrolled at a recognized post-secondary institution; * Preference will be given to 2nd or 3rd year students enrolled in a communication, public relations, community relations or government relations program. *This position may require candidates to: * Provide an academic transcript for review; * Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training which would involve some overnight stays away from home. *Depending on the qualifications of the applicants, the successful candidate may be offered a position at a more appropriate level and/or ladder. Applicants must have legal authorization to work in the country in which the position is based with no restrictions. All positions require background screening.
