Our ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic, results-focused environment and enjoys creative challenges. Working with a team of editors, writers and content creators, the Design and Content Specialist provides digital graphic design, motion graphics and content staging and development support for UPSs corporate blog, Longitudes (longitudes.ups.com) and owned social channels. Support also includes coordinating the editorial calendar and preparing and publishing a variety of content and media during weekdays on WordPress or other content management platforms. The Design and Content Specialist will partner with other departments (e.g., Marketing, Customer Communications, International, Social Media, Employee Communications, Strategy) to create engaging digital design deliverables and messaging that adhere to existing brand guidelines. He/She brainstorms and creates thought leadership content, and related social media content, from concept through completion to attract and retain an external audience, and uses measurement tools to quantify the impact of Executive Communications thought leadership campaigns. This position also assists in reporting metrics and develops promotional opportunities on third-party platforms. The Design and Content Specialist reports to the Creative Director and provides daily support to the Longitudes Managing Editor, both of which are manager-level positions. Responsibilities and Duties * Uses Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro and After Effects), designs engaging graphics, motion graphics and visuals for the Longitudes site, including: infographics, blog imagery, GIFs, social campaigns and interactive PDFs/eBooks * Creates, art directs and curates visuals to support blogs daily on Longitudes and amplification deliverables on social channels * Brainstorms with Longitudes editorial team visual treatment and storyline content for special features, social campaigns, podcasts and videos * Concepts, art directs and designs PowerPoint presentations and templates for senior-level executives * Assists Creative Director in development and execution of online campaigns, podcasts, special projects and video productions * Designs and/or reviews infographic and advertorial visuals to support PR communications with news outlets and agencies * Stages, designs and lays out blogs for daily online publishing * Designs and produces dynamic Social Media content and short- to mid-term Social Media strategies that incorporate Thought Leadership content to advance UPSs reputation * Works with the broader UPS Social Media team and supporting agencies to make sure the content created by the Thought Leadership team aligns with their efforts and can be published on broader UPS social feeds * Manages day-to-day social media activities and participates in social media strategy discussions * Designs quarterly reports for PR leadership, with actionable recommendations of ways to improve produced content and engagement Knowledge and Skills * Demonstrates a basic understanding of products, services, and customer facing technology solutions offered by UPS along with their features and business applications; describes general customer profiles targeted by the company * Identifies the main message in documents; explains the importance of timely and relevant communication; demonstrates a basic understanding of the different channels available for communication * Identifies cultural issues that may impact business needs or customer solutions; applies cultural sensitivity when interacting with others outside ones own geography; leverages cultural awareness to address challenges when operating across different geographical areas; stays current on global and cultural trends * Demonstrates a general knowledge of techniques for soliciting and gathering information * Identifies internal customers needs and vendors to meet those needs; determines costs and benefits to UPS for vendors products, commodities, or services; creates bid proposals for vendor solicitation; analyzes vendor responses and develops recommendations for award * Previous design experience (college study, internship and/or professional) * Advanced knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign; proficiency with Adobe Premiere Pro and AfterEffects desired * Online portfolio * 1-3 years' in-house or agency experience in digital graphic design or visual communications Preferred * Proficient with popular social media platforms Preferred * Bachelor's Degree (or internationally comparable degree) in Graphic Design, Visual Communications or Communications Preferred UPS is an equal opportunity employer.
