    Job Description

    Position Summary

    The Vice President of Enterprise Data Governance & Analytics is a new role at Expeditors that will be responsible for establishing, leading, and scaling Expeditors’ Enterprise Data Governance and Analytics functions. This role ensures our data is trusted, meets the needs of our business, and is strategically leveraged to create value and insights across all products, services, and business units.

    This leader will partner with Business Stakeholders and Global Technology to activate and execute on the company’s Data Strategy—aligning people, process, and technology for cross-functional enablement to govern, build, sustain, and utilize data in service of strategic goals of customer service, innovation, and sustainable growth.

    This role is essential to ensuring the success of our core‑system modernization, which depends on high‑quality, well‑governed data. The VP will work closely with our Global Technology Leadership, and upstream process area owners across our organization to confirm that accurate, governed, AI and modernization‑ready data is in place before any transition occurs. This includes identifying and driving necessary operational and process changes to ensure data quality is established at the source.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Strategic Leadership & Alignment

    • Serve as the business-aligned leader to execute on Expeditors' Data Strategy, ensuring clear alignment with company strategy, technology roadmaps, and organizational priorities.
    • Build strong partnerships with Product and Service, Business Development, Global Technology, Finance and Accounting, Legal, and Compliance Leaders to ensure data governance and analytics efforts meet operational, customer, and strategic goals.
    • Partner with Global Technology leaders to create measurable multiyear strategic plans, operating structures, management systems, and investment priorities.
    • Partner with Business Stakeholders to ensure data capabilities directly support business outcomes.
    • Champion data readiness as a prerequisite for successful system modernization and AI enablement, ensuring that governance and data quality standards are embedded into all modernization and AI enablement planning and decision-making.
    • Serve as a trusted advisor to Expeditors' senior leadership team on data, analytics, data-related AI readiness and digital transformation topics.

    2. Enterprise Data Governance

    • Lead the Enterprise Data Governance team to build and maintain a comprehensive Data Governance framework, including policies, standards, data stewardship roles, data lifecycle management, and accountability models for all non-financial data.

    • Ensure governance structures scale across global geographic regions, products, and business units to ensure data accuracy, completeness, lineage, fidelity, and fitness for purpose.

    • Partner with Data Security, Legal, and Compliance on data privacy, data residency, regulatory requirements, and access controls.

    • Establish and drive enterprise-wide data quality metrics, monitoring mechanisms, and remediation processes for all non-financial data.

    • Collaborate with Global Technology teams, operational leadership, and product areas to design and implement process changes required to achieve modernization and AI enablement goals with accurate, governed, and business-ready data by cleanup and certification efforts.

    • Develop and enforce governance requirements tied to core-system modernization and AI enablement, ensuring upstream processes generate accurate, complete, and governed data to meet critical requirements.

    3. Analytics & Business Insights

    • Lead Expeditors' enterprise analytics vision, including modernization, maturity model progression, self-service and advanced analytics capability development for non-financial data.
    • Oversee the Enterprise Analytics team responsible for reporting, dashboards, forecasting, decision intelligence, and adoption of new analytical technologies.
    • Partner with product and operations teams to embed analytics into key workflows and customer-facing solutions.
    • Create clear ROI frameworks for analytics initiatives.

    4. Technology & Innovation

    • Evaluate and guide investments in analytics tooling, governance technologies, and automation solutions.
    • Assess emerging trends and technologies that advance the enterprise’s data capabilities.
    • Work with Global Technology teams to ensure architecture decisions and data products support enterprise data needs.

    Other Key Requirements

    • 10+ years of experience in global logistics, supply chain, or technology-driven service organizations.
    • 5+ years of experience in data governance, analytics, data strategy, or related leadership roles.
    • Strong leadership track record with ability to influence, collaborate, and communicate effectively across all organizational levels.
    • Working knowledge of data governance frameworks, data management practices, and data lifecycle management.
    • Understanding of modern analytics environments (cloud data platforms, BI tooling, AI/ML concepts).
    • Proven experience leading enterprise functions and global initiatives.
    • Demonstrated ability to build and lead cross-functional teams.
    • Prior experience influencing enterprise architecture and platform decisions.
    • Experience driving data readiness and data governance standards in support of system modernization or large-scale platform transformation initiatives strongly preferred.
