    Job Description

    JOB SUMMARY

    The main purpose of this position is to handle transportation related problems and concerns that arise relating to any safety issue. This position will answer hotline telephones and trouble shoot various transportation related problems and concerns. This will require entries into the AS/400 computer system and the use of Microsoft Word. Day shifts will answer phone calls on hazardous materials and complaints on drivers. A checklist will be reviewed with the driver & direction given as to which placards need to be displayed. Address motor public concerns on drivers, check the driver’s record, determine if an incident report is needed. Incident reports are then forwarded to a Director in Safety. Evenings/Nights will answer phone calls relating to accidents, cargo claims, workers’ compensation, hazardous materials, family emergencies, and complaints on drivers. Reports will be taken and notify on-call personnel if needed. Assign independent adjuster’s and make determination of whether or not the driver needs a post-accident drug or alcohol screen as prescribed by DOT. This is a safety sensitive position.

    • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.

    • Timely and regular attendance according to the scheduled shift as determined by supervisory personnel.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • High school graduate or equivalent experience.

    • Hazardous materials training preferred.

    • One to two years over the road tractor/trailer experience preferred.

    • Training in detecting drug/alcohol abuse preferred.

    • Six months to one year PC experience including Windows.

    • Six months to one year office experience preferred.

    • Class A CDL preferred. If applicant does not have Class A CDL candidate has ability to acquire one within first year of employment.
