    Job Description

    The main purpose of this position is to provide leaves program administration and management for FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act), medical and military leaves as well as the accommodation request process. In addition, this position will assist in the employment verification, separation and exit interview processes. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS The job functions listed below represent the essential job duties and responsibilities of the above-listed position.

    • Analyze and respond to Family Medical Leave Act requests and inquiries, and requests for accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Create and manage an FMLA calendar with reminders of FMLA expiration dates to provide proactive communication with associates and provide a high level of plan management.
    • Prepare quarterly and annual reports for tracking FMLA, Medical Leave and ADA requests.
    • Approves all leave requests for extended or intermittent leave for all employees to determine compliance with laws, policies and regulations. Manage the “FP” pay process as it applies to leave and associate seniority.
    • Generate the monthly new hire reporting and distribute to the appropriate personnel.
    • Conduct employment verifications for non-driver associates. Assist with driver verifications on an as needed basis.
    • Facilitate communication between employees, management, and the legal department regarding specific personnel, leave or return-to-work matters.
    • Coordinate the ordering of employment compliance posters for all Company locations.
    • Attend conferences, meetings and training courses for all employee relations related information.
    • Regular and consistent attendance according to a schedule shift established by supervisory personnel.
    • Complete the separation process to include processing the separation, completing documentation and 
    • submit for imaging.
    • Conduct exit interviews and manage the exit interview process utilizing current software package. 
    • Prepare monthly reports, analyze data and communicate findings to management.
    • Timely and regular attendance according to the scheduled shift as determined by supervisory personnel.

    • Knowledge of DOT regulations and Werner policies and procedures.
    • Knowledge of FMLA, HIPPA, Military Leave and Werner benefits.
    • Skilled in operating a PC, Qualcomm, AS400 and HRMS applications.
    • Strong communication and listening skills with the ability to relate to individuals at all levels.
    • Knowledge of transportation industry usually gained through practical experience.
    • Excellent decision-making ability.
    • Provide a high level of customer service and the ability to treat all customers equally and fairly.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor’s degree OR equivalent experience in Human Resources, Employee Relations, Management or a business related field.
    • Three to five years’ experience with FMLA administration.
    • Knowledge of and experience in State and Federal employment law preferred.
    • Experience in the transportation industry/DOT regulations preferred.
