    Job Description

    In the ever-changing realm of supply chain and logistics, the opportunities to find new business is never-ending and the chances to make a difference to our current customer base by developing accounts and providing solutions are robust.  We are looking for a proven Intermodal sales professional to join our rapidly growing team that will grow profitable business by creating Intermodal solutions for new and existing customers using Werner’s suite of Intermodal services. 

    Succeeding in this role requires a strong inside and outside sales presence, effective interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to multitask. We are looking for a high- energy, enthusiastic achiever that is a self-starter, competitive and motivated to achieve and exceed goals. You will be responsible for:

    • Identifying and closing potential Intermodal business opportunities
    • Building new customer relationships and expanding current ones
    • Assessing customer needs
    • Collaboration with existing Regional Account Executives and maximizing territory potential
    • Coordinating the bid process from identifying the opportunity, working with Regional Account Executive & business owners in designing a strategy, pricing, proposal creation, presentation and award

    • Identify, create and close new Intermodal sales opportunities by prospecting, cold calling and collaborating with regional account executives within assigned region.
    • Work with engineering and operations teams to create Intermodal proposals for prospects and customers
    • Facilitate operational on-boarding of new Intermodal business to ensure complete understanding of customer expectations 
    • Team sell with Werner Sales Team when warranted
    • Keep up to date with skills and knowledge of all Werner Intermodal services capabilities
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing, Management, or Transportation/Logistics, or equivalent experience preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Three to four years Intermodal sales experience with an asset or non-asset based provider required.
    • Understanding of Dry and Temperature control Intermodal Operations and all Class 1 railroads.
