    Job Description

    The main purpose of this position is to provide direction and management to the Driver Support Representatives (DSR) and Fleet Assignment Coordinators (FAC) at the terminal level throughout the U.S. The DSR and FAC will receive their day to day direction from the Fleet Assignment Specialist and the Fleet Assignment Specialist will be the liaison back to the corporate headquarters. This includes full ownership of the driver to tractor assignment process, driver layover management, open tractor management, DSR and FAC supervision, and interacting with Fleet Managers and Terminal Mangers regarding fleet assignment issues or concerns. Possible travel is part of this position, in the occurrence of needing to cover for a DSR/FAC at an outside terminal.

    Qualifications

     

    • Directing multiple terminal’s on-site Driver Support Representatives and giving direction and decision making in their day to day operations. This direction/decision making will include: A) Coordinating and scheduling new and current drivers for a tractor assignment. B) Analyze and determine the best location to relocate drivers from one location to another, taking into consideration cost, travel time, and driver domicile. C) Managing of open tractors at all locations (Werner full service terminals, Shop locations across the country). D) Developing Plans of Action on equipment sitting open too long. E) Prioritizing and scheduling of tractors needed for a tractor assignment. F) Upon request locating specialized equipment for our Specialized Service divisions. G) Planning and directing current policy and guidelines to our off campus terminals. H) Manage driver layover for truck assignments, enter a driver’s layover, recovery and any extra pay earned while going through the tractor assignment process. I) Work in an email proxy and provide direction and problem resolution in Omaha and off site locations. J) Create daily reports for internal executives regarding equipment tracking, tractor recovery, and lay over pay details.
    • Direct Supervision of low-boy recovery driver(s).
    • Utilizing multiple AS-400 screens and views to manage the day to day Fleet Assignment operations: A) Removing and adding drivers to trucks. B) Analyzing data for decision making and reporting purposes. C) Driver payroll. D) Tracking trucks with no drivers. E) Input and process a status worksheet that can impact a driver’s current status with the company.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

     

    • Associate's degree in Business Administration or Communications preferred
    • Two years of transportation experience preferred 
    • Three to five years customer service experience preferred 
    • AS/400 experience preferred.
