    Job Description

    As an Intermodal Financial Analyst, you have the distinct position to work with multiple divisions at Werner. The purpose of this position is to use your data analytics skills and innovative thinking to come up with a competitive pricing solutions that support the Company’s financial goals. You will be in a position to present your analytical findings and solutions to members of our Operations, Pricing and Sales management teams.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • Provide and ensure pricing is provided to customers for shipments to maximize the profitability within the objectives of the company. This will be accomplished by understanding customer requirements, developing relationships, and negotiating with rail providers, as well as using various tools and reading publications to understand Intermodal capacity, markets and fluctuations.
    • Interface with dray carriers and railroads for timely communication of changes to rules, policies and rates that potentially impact Intermodal profitability.
    • Identify areas of improvement for profitability by reviewing dray carrier selections, ramp locations, and routings to select best service and cost options. Interface with Intermodal Operations Manager to implement plans.
    • Review and evaluate capacity and market trends to identify rate structure for current and potential customers in order to maintain profitability
    • On-boarding calls with sales and operations as new lanes/customers are initiated
    • Provide communication and analysis of pricing strategy to management team and Account Executives
    • Maintain and analyze historical bid data, existing and proposed pricing, and award files.

    MUST-HAVES:

    • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, or equivalent experience
    • One or more years of experience in accounting, finance or a related business field
    • Excellent negotiation and communication skills

    NICE TO HAVES:

    • Transportation/Logistics knowledge and experience.
    • Three or more years of experience in accounting, finance or a related business field
