    Job Description

    The Collections Specialist will effectively collect past due balances on assigned accounts while building lasting relationships with our account base (many Fortune 1,000 companies) and the internal staff with the goal of minimizing Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) and delinquent invoices. This position will work with the largest and most complex customer accounts at Werner Enterprises. The Collections Specialist will work to become proactive in his/her approach as he/she develops relationships with the customer base as well as with key internal partners. Communication will be primarily through emails and phone calls. 

    • Investigate past due freight bills by calling and inquiring as to why the bill has not been paid. 
    • Research problems with billing customers such as quoting wrong rates, billing to the wrong address, missing bill of lading, etc., and correct problems as quickly as possible. 
    • Coordinate bankruptcy information between the collections department and legal, process Mexico payments and collect on NSF checks.
    • Serves as an escalation point when deemed necessary by supervisor for an account to be resolved immediately.

     

     

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

     

    • Bachelor's degree desired, Associate degree preferred or equivalent work experience required.
    • Five years of combined accounts receivable and collections experience preferred.
    • Above average Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to analyze large amount of complex data within.
