    GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE

     

    This position is responsible for leading and directing the daily operations in the trim room to ensure the production of Safe, Quality Food.

     

    _ _MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS/DUTIES OF THE POSITION

     

    • Conduct daily required inspection to ensure equipment and environment is in safe operating conduction
    • Review production schedule and planned sequence prior to start-up
    • Issue schedules to cutter operators and assign trim line sequencing
    • Anticipate and request raw materials to fulfill schedule attainment
    • Calculate, monitor, and maintain basket requirement and inventory by product
    • Ensure paperwork  is complete, correct, and timely
    • Track schedule sequence and production
    • Achieve schedule attainment within prescribed standards
    • Monitor breaks and lunches
    • Train employees to meet operating procedures
    • Conduct tailgates and lead exercise routines at shift start each day
    • Any and all other duties assigned by your Supervisor

    JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

     

     

    • EXPERIENCE: Knowledge of production processes is required. Previous experience in a food processing facility is desired.
    • SKILLS: Must have good communication and computer skills. Must be a self-starter and possess initiative. Must be able to lead and direct.
    • ADDITIONAL: Hands-on ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented food processing environment. Required to work independently and with limited supervision. Must be able to maintain regular and acceptable attendance, follow directions, interact well with co-workers, understand and follow posted work rules/ procedures.

     

     

    INTERNAL & EXTERNAL RELATIONS

     

    INTERNAL:   Supervisor, Other Leads, Quality Assurance, Maintenance, Materials

    EXTERNAL:   Auditors

    EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

     

    High School diploma or GED required.  Must successfully complete required Work Keys.

    EMPLOYEE MANAGEMENT

     

    Leads and directs between 5-10 hourly employees.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

     

    Work is performed in a cool environment with an average temperature of 34 degrees F. Concentrated chlorine and concealed ammonia is present.  Work surfaces and floors may be wet.  Employees are required to wear approved shoes and protective equipment.  Must be able to lift up to 10 lbs unassisted up to 1/3 of the workday, and 6 lbs overhead as job demands.  Constant standing on a concrete floor, reaching, bending, stooping, and repetitive hand movements may be required.  Moving machinery, including conveyor and forklifts are in operation in the immediate area.

     

    EQUIPMENT NEEDED

     

    • Two-way radio

     

    WORK HOUR REQUIREMENT

     

     

    Ability to work overtime; some weekends are required.
