    Job Description

    PRIMARY OBJECTIVE: 

    Lead a quality engineering team with four key responsibilities: (1) oversee a quality inspection team responsible for both internal and external inspection requirements, (2) manage the MTS Quality Management system (QMS) and the ISO 9001 standards and audits to ensure metrics are successfully achieved, (3) manage the Corrective Action Program to ensure product improvements, address material and product defects, enhance product reliability and conformity, and (4) administer the MTS non-conformances material (NCM) and Quality Notification (QN) Programs

    Major Areas of Accountability: 

    CORE QUALITY:

    • Defines and maintains the quality metrics for key processes. Develops the measurement techniques, tracks data, and drives appropriate action based upon resulting performance. Establishes a roadmap for process improvements and leads quality improvement projects supporting the QMS.
    • Develops, implements, and improves core quality and EHS processes to ensure processes meet industry standards supporting the QMS.  
    • Responsible for ensuring ISO 9001 standards are achieved by managing the QMS to include actively managing a comprehensive internal and external audit program.
    • Ensures that the QMS system for ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and 45001 standards is reflected in current procedures and policies related to the Quality Engineer’s areas of responsibility

    NONCONFORMITY AND QUALITY NOTIFICATION PROGRAMS:

    • Tracks and monitors conformity of material and product quality issues.  Coordinates investigations on non-conforming materials and products -- from incoming materials received to outbound customer product delivered.  Responsible for managing the tracking and timely movement of NCM material. 
    • Manages communication with metrics and presentations for the quality notification program, the on-hold nonconformity program, and special systemic nonconformity issues.  Serves as the coordinator of cross-functional teams to address nonconformity issues with quality, engineering, purchasing, and suppliers.
    • Responsible for developing and presenting a monthly QN report to the MTS leadership team.  Will work closely with the functional leaders analyzing QN trends and developing corrective actions to meet industry standards.
    • Closely coordinate with the functional representatives in the daily OnHold meetings to partner with cross-function teams for developing and sustaining a quality inspection program that closely coordinates with the MTS Sourcing and Engineering teams to reduce non-conformity and maximize product On Time Delivery.

    PRODUCT INSPECTION AND EVALUATION:

    Drives closure coordination of reported non-conformities with the MTS Supplier Quality Engineers.  Selectively engages with Key Suppliers to drive quality improvement through qualification and training efforts, including First Article Inspection (FAI) requirements.

    Implement methods to inspect, test, and evaluate products. Direct the CMM inspectors to enhance the CMM inspections to improve product conformity. Ensure inspection records are maintained and archived.

    4.  PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT:

    • Represents Quality department on new product Introduction teams to provide support for product development and manufacturing readiness.
    • Investigates significant events related to material quality, product quality, or EHS incidents to assure effective corrective actions will prevent reoccurrence.
    • Serve as the SME on process improvement and Kaizen events requiring Quality Engineering expertise. Serve as trainer of production staff in industry standard production practices and quality assessment of MTS products.

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATINS: 

    • BS in Engineering with a minimum of 5 years professional experience working in a Quality organization preferably in a manufacturing environment.
    • Ability to concurrently organize and lead multiple Quality Engineering improvement teams and deliver on projects.
    • In-depth knowledge of statistical analysis required in quality manufacturing environment.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills required for working across multiple-functional organization lines and geographies.
    • Experience with Quality Management Systems
    • Excellent written communication, verbal communication, and presentation skills
    • Strong computer knowledge, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.

      

    The ability to travel up to 15% domestically

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

    • Previous Quality or EHS experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
    • Experience using SAP’s Quality Module and JMP/Minitab
    • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferred
    • Quality Engineer certification
    • Experience in a CMM measurement environment
