Must be classified as a Junior, Senior, or Graduate student, or be a recent graduate student within the last year (May 2017 May 2018) with a minimum of 60 college credit hours. Must provide a current official/unofficial transcript. Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale as an undergraduate, postgraduate, or recent graduate. Notes to Applicants IMPORTANT INFORMATION The 2018 Austin Energy Summer Internship Program will start on May 29, 2018 and end on August 10, 2018. Graduates who are not currently enrolled in a post graduate program or who have graduated prior to May 2017 will not be considered for the 2018 Summer Internship Program. Finance Risk Control Analyst The intern will assist the Finance Risk Control Analyst group. The intern will automate and document VAR (Value at Risk) backtesting processes. The intern will also use Access to create macros to pull data for power trades. Preferred Qualifications: Degree or major in Business, Finance or Economics. Major study, coursework, background or concentration in Computer Information Systems. Experience with Microsoft Access. Experience with data analytics. 2. Finance Business Systems Support This intern will assist the Finance Business Systems Support team. The interns primary duties include: creating visual process documentation of procedures and system workflows, performing financial reconciliations, resolving system interface errors in a strategic corporate performance management system, and documenting training guidelines for financial business systems. The intern will also assist as needed with the planned upgrade to an enterprise asset management system. The interns duties may include: performing system validation testing, reviewing system and testing requirements, coordinating training material delivery, and recommending general business process improvements. Preferred Qualifications: Degree or major in Finance, Accounting, or Economics. Major study, coursework, background or concentration in Computer Information Systems. Experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio. Experience with enterprise resource planning ( ERP ) systems. Experience with importing data for use in report software, spreadsheets, graphs, and flowcharts. 3. Finance Enterprise Risk Management The intern will assist the Enterprise Risk Management group. The intern will gather business requirements and identify potential software vendors for a utility-wide risk management reporting and tracking system. They intern will assist in the documentation of risks within various operating units of Austin Energy and the creation of a risk registry and risk reports for use by Austin Energy management. The intern may also assist with documenting and suggesting improvements with the utilitys Claims and Collections business processes. Preferred Qualifications: Degree or major in Business Administration, Economics, or Computer Science. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio. Experience collecting, analyzing, and synthesizing data into graphs, tables, and database repositories. Experience working in a team environment. 4. Customer Care Services The intern will assist the Customer Care Services group. The intern will assist in developing and managing project plans, analyzing and prioritizing technical solutions to improve customer service, and presenting recommendations and project reports to the manager and Customer Care Services Vice President. The intern will also assist in analyzing customer satisfaction data. Preferred Qualifications: Degree or major in Business or Information Systems. Experience with customer service. Experience with data analytics. Project management skills. 5. Customer Account Management The intern will assist in Billing Services Management operational metric evaluation of Billing Production and Billing Support. The intern will evaluate existing quality and daily production reporting in billing to determine if the business should add/edit/remove operational metrics. The intern will also review processes and work closely with the Customer Account Management Quality team and Billing Services Management. Preferred Qualifications: Degree or major in Operations Management, Business Management, Accounting, or Information Technology. Major study, coursework, background or concentration in Production Management, Management Analysis, Project Management, Business, Economics, Accounting, Finance, or Computer and Information Science. Experience with Excel, SQL Server Reporting Services, and Tableau. 6. Power Production The intern will be assisting in activities related to the Austin Energy Power Production business unit Quality Management System ( QMS ). The intern will conduct individual face-to-face training for of site employees on the use of the SharePoint QMS site and Non-Conformance, Corrective Action, Preventative Action, Improvement ( NCCAPAI ), and possibly designing or redesigning end-user training for the QMS SharePoint business process improvement tool. The intern will also assist in conducting organizational research on identifying process improvement opportunities. Preferred Qualifications: Degree or major in Organizational Development, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or Human Resources Development. Experience with SharePoint or similar organization collaboration software. Teaching or training skills Organizational research skills. Instructional design skills 7. Customer Energy Solutions The intern will assist the Austin Energy Green Building group. The intern will assist in the development of data visualizations of program metrics for digital publications, a digital on-boarding customer package consisting of examples and guidelines for marketing collateral, and defining the fields and importing data in Salesforce to maintain customer data and manage marketing activities. Preferred Qualifications: Degree or major in Information Systems, Communication, or Marketing. Major study, coursework, background or concentration in Data Visualization, Digital Communications, and User Experience. Experience with Socrata and Tableau. Experience with Customer Relationship Management tools such as Salesforce. Experience with importing data for use in graphs and other visualizations.
