Position Summary Duke Energy is currently seeking a highly motivated student for a summer internship opportunity within our Fossil Hydro Operations organization. As an FHO engineering intern, you will be assisting project engineers and project managers providing support to execute capital projects in a safe, reliable and economic manner. You will not only gain exposure to a wide range of project management, technical and operational opportunities, you will also acquire critical insight into our company and our industry. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable networking connections which will help prepare and develop your skills for future career opportunities in the electrical utility industry. nbsp; Your work activities may involve the following areas: Electrical Engineering Student - You may assist engineers with: Design and construction of capital equipment installations, investigate, budget, and evaluate proposed capital projects; design and generate installation drawings or schematics; coordinate equipment isolation; learn compliance with codes and standards; and coordination of functional testing. Team with electrical equipment testing experts for troubleshooting and plant betterment projects involving cabling, motor control centers, power distribution, transformers and capacitors. Assist control systems teams for modifications and Working Conditions * Required to wear personal protective equipment (hardhat, safety glasses, appropriate clothing, ear plugs, fall protection, etc.) as needed. * Office and plant environment
