The Engineer II position is the intermediate level of the Engineering classification hierarchy. Employees in the Engineer II position solve complex problems in engineering areas of specialization with general supervision. An Engineer II is expected to develop advanced skills, and the ability to work with greater independence. An Engineer II effectively applies fundamental concepts and procedures to work that is fairly complex and varied.nbsp; This position will be responsible for the design of underground subdivisions to meet current specifications as outlined in the Enterprise Wide construction manual. The incumbent will be responsible for reading and interpreting developer supplied site plans to provide a most cost effective design which meets the needs of both the developer and the Duke Energy peer in the Urban Development Team. Responsibilities The Engineer II position is the intermediate level of the Engineering classification hierarchy. Employees in the Engineer II position solve complex problems in engineering areas. Responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to: * The individual in this position will receive site plans and supporting load information from the Urban Development Team for the homes and amenities in a new underground residential development and will create a work order using Maximo / BOUD with the related CUs and prints using ADDS subdivision design tool.nbsp; * This self-directed individual develops good working relationships with internal customers in order to support the needs of the external customers, builders, developers, and electricians. The incumbent will engage in continuous discussion to give and receive feedback during the design process for new subdivisions with the Duke Energy Urban Development Team peer.nbsp; * The successful candidate must be highly organized and operate with a sense of urgency.nbsp; He or she must be flexible and agile to meet the changing needs of our customers. * This position provides engineering expertise to recognize and resolve complex engineering problems, assists in interpreting the Florida URD tariff, standards, regulations, requirements and guidelines. Work must balance the needs of the customer with the requirement to create the most cost effective design. * Provides engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of well-defined problems in area of expertise. * Contributes to team decision-making in the accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities, * Deals with changing priorities and differing situations and makes decision that may affect the work of the team. * Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches related to well-defined problems and analysisnbsp; of moderate scope and complexity. * Conducts engineering and related studies; projectsnbsp; and assignments are clearly defined withnbsp; focus on development, but must be able to complete routine engineering projects with minimal oversight; competent to design, operate and maintain systems with minimum impact on existing systems. * Possesses and applies the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures. * Demonstrates proficiency in technical competencies and has ability to interpret technical information and instructions, this includes designs using Maximo, BOUD, ADDS, and SEDS. * Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities. * Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills. * Maintains accurate records and files. * Supports the companys goals and represents the company positively and professionally.
