Program Overview: This position is part of Southern California Edisons (SCE) University and Campus Relations Internship Program. The Summer Internship program is a 10-12 week paid opportunity to gain hands-on experience with meaningful work, while developing your skills, and building your network. The internship has an estimated start date of May/June 2019 and an estimated end date of August/September 2019. Interns will also have the opportunity to participate in intern mixers, executive speaker series, site tours, community volunteer events, and cross-company networking. Examples of what our interns do: * Work together with partners from a variety of teams to support groundbreaking projects and initiatives * Analyze, develop, and execute action plans to improve department efficiency and data integrity * Utilize engineering software to evaluate data and provide analysis * Build business insight by attending meetings and giving presentations * Maintain accurate databases, and provide analysis and evaluation of data * Handle work orders and notifications completed by internal/external partners * Help prepare business documents * Provide scheduling support * Track and update company assets * Perform technical data review and validation **Position Overview: ** **** SCE's Transmission & Distribution organizational unit is responsible for planning, engineering, constructing, operating, and maintaining the infrastructure to safely and deftly deliver electricity to SCE's customers throughout our 50,000 square-mile service territory. Our transmission assets deliver power from generating stations to our distribution grid, which brings the electricity to homes and businesses across Southern California. This position will be an intern within Southern California Edison (SCE)s Technical Solutions department. This role is within the Engineering group which provides all transmission and distribution system planning, field engineering support, asset management oversight, network engineering specifications, equipment and apparatus evaluations and standards. They also plan, engineer, and design transmission, substation, and distribution facilities. Engineering also provides metro area telecommunication services for SCE, and also to all types of carriers such as, cable companies, internet service providers and large enterprises, construct fiber optic cables and repair outages for SCEs telecom network. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: * Be currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Masters degree in Civil Engineering (or closely related field) at an accredited institution with a graduation date of December 2019 or later Desired skills in any of the following: * Preferred GPA of 2.8 or higher * Experience with Microsoft Access, SharePoint, or Visio * Preferred experience generating reports using SAP * Confirmed experience extracting data from operation systems and databases for production analysis purposes * Previous coursework or experience with programming with Python, VBA, R, or SQL * Former experience with AutoCAD, PSPICE, LTSPICE,PLSF, PowerWorld or Matlab * Involvement with student clubs and organizations * Have experience using MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint * Have strong oral, and written interpersonal skills * Shown ability to interface effectively and collaborate with peers, clients, management, and other organizations * Validated history of a self-starter, critical thinker, and problem solver * Ability to follow Edison safety protocols and safe work practices Comments: * Official transcripts will be verified during the interview process * Candidates for this position must be legally authorized to work directly as employees for any employer in the United States without visa sponsorship * Relocation/Housing Stipend is not provided ** **Southern California Edison, an Edison International (NYSE:EIX) company, serves a population of nearly 15 million via 5 million customer accounts in a 50,000-square-mile service area within Central, Coastal and Southern California.
