    Apprentice-Line&Serv Dpts - Lineman 1st Class -Date:Oct 2, 2018 Location:Cleveland, TX, US Company:Entergy This position will be filled as an Apprentice-Line& Dpts - Lineman 1st Class, depending upon experience* This posting will close on 10/12/18*** JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Under close supervision, as an apprentice in training, must be willing and able to perform the less difficult tasks and assist others in high and low voltage line work involved in the construction and maintenance of electric transmission and distribution conductors, structures, underground systems, and related equipment, and be qualified to do the following and related work as assigned: 1. Use pole climbing equipment and have ability to handle self on pole in safe and efficient manner. 2. Handle poles, install poles, assist in the erection of wood and steel structures, including foundations. 3. Make up and install guys and install secondaries. 4. Connect services on energized conductors up to 600 volts. 5. Install secondary racks and clevis, anchors, miscellaneous hardware, grounds, fittings for vertical type construction, buss supports, and conductors on dead circuits. 6. Perform simple transmission and distribution switching (qualified lineman assistance). 7. Tie knots and splice rope. 8. Assist in trimming trees. 9. Assist qualified lineman or mechanic in simple routine inspection and maintenance. 10. Assist in the installation of all types of conduit systems. 11. Assist in the handling, moving and installation of all transmission, distribution and plant equipment, machinery, etc. 12. Prepare reports and records. 13. Operate Companys trucks and automobiles. EXPERIENCE AND SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS: An Apprentice Lineman during the first three months in classification shall not work on circuits or equipment energized at more than 600 volts. They shall not be permitted to climb through or above ungrounded conductors or equipment rated at more than 600 volts even though such conductors are properly covered or spaced out of casual reach. This includes all transmission conductors. 1. During the second three months apprenticeship, the apprentice may be allowed to perform structure inspections provided the following conditions are met: a) Energized primary circuits shall be properly covered, and shall not be within casual reach. b) Energized transmission circuits must have a phase spacing no less than fifteen feet. c) Inspection does not require apprentice to cross from one pole in structure to another. d) Structure maintenance is not required. 2. During the last six months of apprenticeship, the apprentice is allowed to assist a qualified lineman in covering and working all voltages. The qualified lineman shall be on the pole, structure, work board, or in an aerial basket participating in the work if the voltage is above 600 volts. The apprentice may also be allowed to climb through or above properly covered primary distribution circuits for the purpose of structure inspections to assist a qualified lineman in hot stick work. The apprentice may be allowed to climb by or above energized transmission circuits for the purpose of structure inspections. The apprentice may also be allowed to assist a qualified lineman in doing such tasks as pole wrapping, static replacement, etc. Note: Regardless of what step the apprentice may be in their classification, any assignment must first be discussed, and both the apprentice and their Supervisor must be confident that it can be done safely. Line and equipment must be grounded to be considered de-energized. 3. Learn Companys safety rules, and be willing and able to administer all approved methods of resuscitation, and be willing and able to render practical first aid. 4. Know the location of, and be willing and able to operate, all the firefighting equipment. Know what kind of equipment to use on electrical, oil, and other fires. 5. Supply personal tools used in work. 6. Hold a current Class A CDL license or be willing and able to obtain one within a specified time period. 7. Have knowledge of line and substation material and use of line and substation construction tools and equipment. PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Must be willing and able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation. PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Be particularly alert in observing hazards and avoiding accidents. 2. Be willing and able to attend and take part in safety meetings. 3. Be willing and able to work under unusual surroundings, as well as the normal working conditions pertaining to this job. 4. Be willing and able to receive and transmit orders and instructions in such a manner as to inspire respect and confidence of both superiors and subordinates. 5. Be especially neat, clean and orderly in work and person. 6. Be willing and able to meet the public in a pleasant and tactful manner. 7.
