    Student, Intern - Data Science -Date:Oct 5, 2018 Location:New Orleans, LA, US Company:Entergy This position is for an intern - must be enrolled in an accredited degree program matching the minimum requirements to be considered. This position is local to New Orleans area - not a remote position. The data science intern will support the growing analytical needs of the company as data collection efforts expand and use cases are identified. The primary duties of the position will include enhancing and optimizing current analytical techniques through business unit collaboration, development and deployment of higher order analytical techniques (and software) necessary to extract additional value from company-held data (data at rest as well as streaming) and assist with broadening the analytical knowledge base of the company. Analysis performed by the position will be shared within Entergy to support the various initiatives underway that have an analytical need which will ultimately impact Entergys generation assets, load resources, customer view, and product and services offered to the customer. Job Duties: Assist with the development and deployment of analytical solutions/tools that enable business units to unlock additional value from company-held data. Collaborate with data scientists, information technology, data engineering, and customer-areas to create models and insights which can be utilized in other, on-going analytics efforts. Apply math, statistics, and/or advanced modeling methods in order to create solutions which can be utilized in descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics Communicate solutions/results from data analysis and models Interact with functional leaders across multiple and concurrent projects Minimum Requirements: -(required) Current enrollment in a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or other related field. -(nice-to-have) Current enrollment in a Masters degree in business or engineering field -required) Some experience in statistical programming languages (R, Python, SAS, Matlab, etc.). -(required) Some experience with relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, etc). -(nice-to-have) Familiarity with reporting tools such as Cognos, Tableau, PowerBI, etc. -(nice-to-have) Experience working with predictive and prescriptive statistical methods. -(nice-to-have) Experience in developing and delivering presentations #LI-DNP Primary Location:Louisiana-New Orleans Job Function:Students / Early Careers FLSA Status:Nonexempt Relocation Option:No Relocation Offered Union description/code:NON BARGAINING UNIT-NBU Number of Openings:1 Req ID:83271 Travel Percentage:Up to 25% An Equal Opportunity Employer, Minority/Female/Disability/Vets.
