    Itron's Waseca, MN location is seeking MANUFACTURING TEST ENGINEER INTERN who works on an interdisciplinary engineering team to design, implement, and validate cost-effective methods of configuring and testing our products, systems, and equipment. More specifically, this position will focus on the manufacture and test of metering products. This position allows college students to gain real world experience in a field while collaborating with their studies. As the job progresses the individual will be allowed more freedom and responsibility which could lead to a full-time position upon completion of the internship.

    POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Job-shadow various employees in assigned department.

    • Assist with assigned duties.

    • Ask questions and offer input when supervisors deal with more complex problems.

    • Learn and understand any regulations related to departmental tasks.

    • Help department stay abreast of latest developments in the field and in any changes related to educational practices.

    • Design and implement configuration/ test methods for the manufacture of company products.

    • Develop and maintain Custom Labview software applications which control manufacturing processes.

    • Maintain databases (such as MS-SQL) to support manufacturing processes.

    • Develop and maintain test fixtures and associated controls hardware.

    • Optimize manufacturing processes by monitoring existing streams of data, understanding what makes an ideal process, and learning when to respond when processes fall out of acceptable standards.

    • Continuous improvement of quality, cycle time, and reliability of production equipment through hardware and/or software modifications.

    • Documentation of processes, equipment, and products as needed.

    EDUCATION: Enrolled in a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent. Prefer students in Junior year of school.

    HOURS: Prefer student work a few flexible hours during the school year and then full-time hours during the summer

    TRAVEL: 1 - 10%

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This is a typical office job, with no special physical requirements or unusual work environment.

    The successful candidate's starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills and experience.
