The Systems Test team at Itron, a technology leader in the smart grid sector is looking for an Intern to support our fast-growing lab automation and information needs.

The Systems Test team is leveraging automation to increase productivity and consistency of labor-intensive manual test processes. Itron designs, develops, and sells electric meters, load control switches, smart streetlights, gas meters, water meters, IoTR products and other components to the utility industry. This position will encompass all those product lines.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Help to automate existing manual test cases using proprietary Itron automation platform

• Debug, and remediate, any issues found in the automation tests, or suite.

• Evaluate tests requiring manual intervention (e.g., powering up/down devices, simulating cut wires, turning on pumps, adjusting valves, etc.) and help to develop automated solutions using Raspberry Pi, Arduino, electric valves, relays, switches, and other components.

• Restructure, re-wire, re-organize equipment racks to better support growing automation platform and the testing of new products.

• Work with cross-functional teams (hardware, firmware, software, and systems test) to develop, and maintain, automation platform as well as create new automation tests for new products.

• Help maintain lab inventory to ensure accurate accounting of all lab equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Scripting experience with several of the following languages - C#, Selenium, Python, Perl, JAVA

• General knowledge of hardware including Raspberry Pi, Arduino and related hardware, basic wiring and interconnect and associated products.

• Familiarity with power distribution, interconnect, etc.

• Comfortable with learning basic plumbing and other skills as required to support the development of the automation infrastructure components.

• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication.

EDUCATION: Must be enrolled in an accredited university working towards a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
