Itron is seeking a skilled and motivated Intern to join our Global Customer Support Services (GCSS) team and assist in creating technical training documentation and videos. This intern will engage with a global customer facing team and support internal and external stakeholders. This paid internship is a great launch pad for a critical thinker who is interested in building their career in writing, training and technology.
DURATION: Minimum of 90 days with Itron. Preference for ~20 hours/wk during the academic year, and full-time availability in summer (~40 hours/wk). Potential to continue after 90 days.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Create, develop, plan, write and edit operational, instructional, maintenance and test procedures for paper, multimedia, and web-based publications
Research and incorporate available engineering information such as drawings, design reports, equipment and test specifications into publications
Interview product development teams, marketing teams, engineers and other technical personnel to provide accurate and comprehensive information that is appropriate for the targeted audience
Use ticket tracking and document authoring tools and technology to access product information and push publication deliverables through to the release cycle
Track project assignments and keep management informed of progress
Collaborate with teammates effectively in person and/or via workplace collaboration tools and technologies
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Education: enrolled in an accredited and related degree program with completion of at least two years of college-level coursework (preference for Technical Communications, Writing, Communications, English)
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
Professional workplace communication skills, including ability to communicate with stakeholders globally
Excellent, clear, clean, accessible writing; obsessive attention for consistency and technical accuracy
A positive attitude, willing to jump in and tackle new challenges.
Available to dedicate at least 90 days to this internship
PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
Ability to communicate complex technical topics to non-technical stakeholders both internally and externally.
Knowledge of MadCap Flare
Knowledge of Azure DevOps
PHYSICAL DEMANDS : This is a typical office job, with no special physical requirements or unusual work environment.
