Systems Administrator

The ideal candidate will have:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field of study, from an accredited college or university;
Minimum of five (5) years of application experience with the understanding of functional processes to include:
Minimum of eighteen (18) months for application tool set specific to the job assignment- Windows Server Administration, Active Directory Administration, Linux
Familiar with NERC requirements
Familiarity with scripting and/or automation

Job Purpose:
The Systems Administrator is responsible for maintain the integrity, availability, accessibility, and current patch levels of various system applications. Serves as application technical point of contact between Enterprise Application Solutions and staff (both technical and functional) for the identification and resolutions of issues
Primary Functions:
- Serve as a liaison between application services and staff (both technical and functional) for the identification and resolutions of issues (including 3rd parties);
- Serve as a liaison between OUC and the application vendor to address system issues and problem analysis to see them through to resolution. This includes opening up vendor cases, frequent relevant status discussions and ensuring quality resolution;
- Develop and maintain system technical documentation, standards and roadmap;
- Manage multiple application environments while following patch/configuration management best practices to apply changes in a logical, audited sequence through environment progression (Dev, Test, UAT, Prod, etc);
- Build and maintain the technical infrastructure in support of the application needs to ensure environments (instances) are available for projects and production;
- Day to day activities will include: instance creation, instance management, object and configuration migrations, patch installs, release and version management, middleware (Weblogic) security set up;
- Team member working with database administrators, server administrators, network team, security, design authority and application support and other groups to support the app;
- Perform assigned application deployments, application monitoring, server health monitoring, patch release planning, application service pack upgrades, framework services upgrades and performance tuning. Develop and maintain documentation regarding system functionality, performance benchmarks and system integration;
- Perform assigned performance analysis, review the findings to confirm alignment with potential issues, recommendations and improvements within the application infrastructure (network hardware, database, vendor supplied). Document all issues and their resolution. (Daily issues must be documented with problem/resolution/root cause);
- Participate in OUC IT Change Control meetings, IT Standards meetings and other Process Improvement Initiatives;
- Participate on technology services and vendor application upgrades, patching, testing as well as production implementations. Perform and implement necessary system maintenance during planned outages;
- Work on small, medium and large scale projects as needed by OUC. This includes transition to application services/support to ensure best practices of non-functional requirements are implemented such as back up, recovery, environment management, configuration, source control and monitoring, etc.;
- Follow triage, SDLC, change management and other IT processes in place to promote new/revised objects to all environments;
- Contact software vendors to report, track and resolve problems with their software products;
- Handle scheduled on-call rotation responsibilities;
- Handle required shift work when needed;
- IT Support Center participation in support of applications.
- Perform other related duties as directed;
Technical Requirements:
Working knowledge in all, but not limited to, the following:
- Core corporate applications such as:Tripwire, Splunk, Solarwinds
- Other Software Applications to include: Visio, SQL
- Structured methodologies such as FADE, SDLC, Agile, and other best practices;
- System trace tools to capture required technical logs;
- Data analysis of logs and system behavior;
- System tools such as Meridian or similar technology for configuration management and functional smoke testing;
- System technical documentation;
- Data extract tools to validating data integrity;
- BMC Footprints or similar tools (IT Service request, change management, solution request);
- Control M for schedules system initiated processes (or applicable application job scheduler);
Ability to:
- Take on new system assignments and learn new technologies;
- Research and pilot new technologies such as 3D printing and wearable technology;
- Research and introduce new versions of operating systems, databases, and Java;
- Implement security controls with industry approved tools;
- Research and implement monitoring tools;
- Make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals, compute rates, ratio and percentages;
- Use Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.) and use standard office equipment (computer, fax, telephone, copier, etc.).
Education/ Certification/ Years of Experience Requirements:

Physical Requirements:
