U.S. Production Operations, U.S. Fabrication is charged not only with
maintaining the finishing system operations and practices to produce
long-lasting quality finishes but also with operating all finishing
system production and waste air and water systems in an environmentally
sound manner. The Chemical Engineer Intern will work directly for the
Senior Manager - Process Engineering to complete tasks such as
learning/analyzing the current paint processes and investigate ways to
improve upon them, help create capital equipment business cases, run
trials, help with and lead engineering projects, and overall help to
integrate new ideas related to continuous improvement into the finishing
processes. The focus for this engineer will be on helping to implement
major capital projects and lean initiatives for the areas through
engineering methods and procedures. The responsibilities of this
position include, but are not limited to, the following: - Work closely
with Process and Senior Engineers to develop business cases for major
capital projects. - Study the finishing processes to gain understanding.
- Investigate feasibility and costs of improvements to process - Perform
engineering studies on processes to seek out improvements/solve
problems. - Implement improvements to process (using KPIs to guide
changes) - Perform lab analysis of test materials per ASTM standards -
Create/Revise standard work documents and other documentation for the
process/materials (PSPs, MSPs, IBs) per instruction of supervisor using
Microsoft office tools. - Work closely with individuals within
production operations. - Participate in lean activities in the area such
as 5S labeling, creating visuals, improving processes. To select this
job as one of interest to you, at a minimum, you must have the
following: - A student in good standing at an acredited university
pursuing B.S. in Chemical Engineering and be returning to school
full-time at the end of the internship - Ability to think analytically,
independently, and outside of the box to provide fresh ideas to improve
