    Job details - Auto req ID - 1478BR - Title - Intern, Sales - Location - Vienna, VA - Job Description - Summary: Internship to gain experience in the Sales group within WGL Energy Services. The intern will be responsible for business development activities surrounding our commercial market segment, including sales of commodity energy (electricity and natural gas) and renewables (solar power, wind power, carbon offsets, energy efficiency, etc.). In addition to new business development, the team is also developing retention and up-sell strategies to encourage customers to stay with WGL Energy, even after they have the option to move to a different supplier. The intern will be gathering and analyzing customer and prospect data to provide the account management team with leads for new sales. This may include prospecting research and assistance with prospecting strategy. Additionally, as requested, the intern will be responsible for helping the team on all other projects. This position may be based in either Tysons or Baltimore. Tasks & Responsibilities: Mining and analysis of customer and prospect data to determine best new, renewal and up-sell sales candidates. Assisting business development activities of the team. Assisting the team to maximize reporting and deliverables. Assisting the team with on-going projects, as directed. Support research and development of new products. Skills & Abilities: Requires enrollment at an accredited four-year college or university, full time college student. Preferably rising Sophomore, Junior, or Senior. Demonstrated professional demeanor and good interpersonal skills. Demonstrated strong attention to details. Strong written and verbal communication and analytical skills. Strong analytical and problem solving skills using multiple sources of data/input. Proven ability to use computer software and applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word. Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) to share, retrieve, research and present business information. Ability to use the Internet or other tools to conduct research. Ability to prospect for sales and/or data, via telephone. A general understanding of the natural gas, electricity, and/or renewable energy industry preferred. Past sales experience preferred. Demonstrated strong interpersonal and project management skills to manage multiple tasks and timelines.
