Summary Through practical field experience and mentoring, successful candidates will gain significant technical experience working as a nuclear engineer. Work with the Engineering staff to complete tasks including: Performing calculations for reactor core follow Developing and/or Enhancing Programs (lay out) Neutronic/Nuclear Design Calculations Assist senior engineers with core design calculations Minimum Requirements Must be enrolled in an ABET accredited Nuclear Engineering program or have an ABET accredited degree and enrolled in a Masters in Engineering (one of which must be Nuclear Engineering) Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Ability to communicate effectively; both written and verbally Must be self- motivated and have the ability to work well with others Must be interested in a hands-on work approach If selected, must have reliable transportation to travel to downtown Minneapolis site locations. A condition of employment will be successfully obtaining and maintaining General Security Clearance and a Nuclear Security Clearance for unescorted access to Xcel Energy nuclear plants including successful completion of nuclear General Access Training (GAT) and the nuclear security screening process (typically consists of an alcohol/drug screen, a criminal history check, a psychological assessment, initial credit and background investigation and periodic credit & criminal history checks).
