Position Summary The Siting and Land Rights department at Xcel Energy is seeking a part time Geospatial intern. The successful candidate will focus on development of a Land Management GIS Inventory while also assisting in legal description mapping, data creation and preparation for utility features, suitability modeling and site location analysis along with database maintenance. Essential Functions -Create, prepare and maintain GIS layers, applications and data sets for various projects with a primary focus on Land Management -Conduct field visits to review and update GIS Land Management Inventory data -Translate legal land descriptions and Public Land Survey System (PLSS) data to cartographic representations -Work with GIS team to develop data standards, program goals and maintenance procedures Requirements -Working toward a Bachelors Degree in Geography or GIS -Completion of GIS I or an equivalent course -Experience producing maps using ArcGIS, Adobe Illustrator and other mapping-related software -Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) -Reliable and able to prioritize and work independently As a leading combination electricity and natural gas energy company, Xcel Energy offers a comprehensive portfolio of energy-related products and services to 3.4 million electricity and 1.9 million natural gas customers across eight Western and Midwestern states.
