Ambassador Responsibilities

• Sourcing deals through online (CrunchBase), email, and networking events.
• Sourcing/building partnerships with accelerators and seed funds.
• Construct memos of relevant communications and companies.
• Facilitate deal flow.
• Using creative thinking skills to recommend new opportunities.

Upheaval Investments is a venture fund based out of Chicago focused on investing in early stage tech companies that are disruptive to their respective markets. We are interested in providing long term support for founders with a passion for building a product or service that will revolutionize conventional industry wisdom or procedure. With various investments in AI, medtech, aerospace, and VR we are truly indiscriminate in relation to industry, geographical origin, or educational pedigree. Our fundamental vision is to provide support to the entrepreneurial community and pave the way for new technological development.

An Ambassador’s primary responsibilities include engaging in entrepreneurial communities throughout your respective geographical area and generating leads for review at Upheaval. This will require briefly meeting with companies to facilitate initial contact with their respective executive teams. After initial meetings, ambassadors will determine whether or not a company is worth review at Upheaval based on various criteria. As per our thesis, an ambassador’s scouting focus would be on highly disruptive technologies that would fundamentally change their respective industries.

Additionally, the ambassador’s work will include but not limited to going to events, building relationships with student entrepreneurs/various entrepreneurial communities, visiting/participating in accelerators/incubators, becoming a publicly recognizable face within their community, and representing Upheaval professionally. We are looking for inquisitive, motivated, and interesting people who are determined to provide only the highest caliber of work. Some local travel required. This is a part time position, no more than 10 hours a week.

• Significant extracurricular or volunteer involvement.
• Strong interpersonal skills and networking ability.
• Demonstrated ability of involvement in entrepreneurial community and general networking ability.
• Native of geographic area and a familiarity of entrepreneurial community within their respective cities.
• Preference given to humanities students with demonstrated STEM or biological sciences coursework, students who have previous experience building startups, and/or students with AI/ML/coding experience.
• An interest in new and emerging tech.
• To be polished, pleasant, professional, and unintimidated if asked to conduct site visits regardless of whether that be at a steel mill or with a senior executive.
