  • Responsibilities

    As a Regional Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for the planning, maintenance and procurement activities related to the regional inventory portfolio. You must be self-directed, work with a high sense of urgency and possess the ability to solve problems, and collaborate with other team members, vendors, etc. to meet the needs of the supply chain. This will involve a balanced emphasis on increasing service levels to customers while increasing the turnover of inventory in multiple locations to a specified target.

    PRIMARY DUTIES:

    • Lead and mentor all purchasing personnel in the defined regional buying group to ensure they have been delegated adequate authority to carry out their responsibilities and objectives.

    • Maintain a strong knowledge of supplier markets and build strong relationships with various disposition channels available to CESCO.

    • Manage the day-to-day purchasing operations for assigned region, including processing of user requisitions, research and selection of potential suppliers, negotiation of pricing and terms and issuance of purchase orders.

    • Coordinate activities of district purchasing, strategic purchase planning, and inventory management that support exceptional customer service levels.

    • Manage and develop relationships with key suppliers that foster win-win negotiations and decisions. At a minimum, this would involve periodic supplier reviews and identification of opportunities for value improvement. Negotiate price, quality, service, payment terms, and returns of inactive material.

    • Search for new products and seek to improve negotiations with vendors. Look for opportunities in vertical and horizontal markets. Determine market preferences through account manager discussions and district strategy planning process.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Valid driver's license and ability to travel. Must meet Crescent Electric Supply Company's requirements to drive company vehicles.

    • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    • Experience with Eclipse ERP is a plus.
