Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm
As a Value-Added Services (VAS) Supervisor, you will assist the Manager with the additional services offered by a Regional Distribution Center (RDC) that supports several locations within a particular region. The services will include one or more of the following: CNC machine operation, Wire Cutting, Pipe Bending, Engraving, and sub-assembly operations. You will have a critical role in the collaboration of various business partners and the coordination of resources while using best practices in order to meet customer requirements.
PRIMARY DUTIES :
- Train, develop, and lead personnel with the appropriate skill sets in the areas described above.
- Ensure all department policies and standards are upheld.
- Provide input to the RDC leadership team on headcount, asset, and expense budgeting.
- Understand the customer requirements related to the value-added services department and develop plans for executing the daily workload.
- Ensure the accuracy of the product selection as needed for each service operation.
- Collaborate with RDC Manager to develop and maintain key metrics for VAS. With a focus on productivity and error trends and tracking and costing.
- Collaborate with RDC Manager & Quality team to develop and execute corrective action plan and preventative action plans for defects and process failures.
- Work with the Operations Manager to develop and execute a Preventative Maintenance schedule for all value-added service equipment.
- Work with the Inventory Control Manager and 3rd party vendors to recycle or dispose of any unsellable wire, pipe, metal, etc.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Manage direct reporting personnel and redefine the team, as needed.
- Responsibilities may include assisting with hiring, interviewing, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Outline roles and responsibilities, drive effective and efficient onboarding, and provide coaching and mentoring on an ongoing basis.
- Periodically evaluate the performance of each employee and offer goals and objectives on an annual basis.
- Recommend merit wage increases within the established company wage structure and policy.
QUALIFICATIONS :
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to collaborate with multiple teams and across functions.
- Demonstrated process improvement skills with the ability to develop and implement processes.
- Ability to analyze data and draw sound conclusions and recommendations.
- Ability to use warehouse equipment and inventory systems.
- Ability to obtain and maintain forklift certification.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Outlook.
- Product and application knowledge, electrical product materials handling experience, and a background in wholesale electrical distribution are strongly recommended.
