Offers on-site support to early childhood programs to improve services related to early learning environments, family engagement, adult-child interactions, health and safety, social-emotional competencies, early intervention, and developmentally appropriate learning experiences (curriculum). Designs and implements professional learning opportunities for center-based and family child care educators participating in Virginia Quality. Documents services provided and completes required reports. Attends local and regional training sessions and team meetings. Duties are performed under the supervision of the Child Care Specialist III. Note: This job announcement will be used to fill two full-time Virginia Quality Technical Assistance Specialist (Child Care Specialist II) positions located in Fairfax, Virginia. The salary will not exceed the midpoint (or $70,805.70) of the advertised compensation range. The position requires flexibility in scheduling, including some evening and Saturday hours. Employment Standards MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in early childhood education, psychology, social work, or a closely related field; plus two years of experience in day care administration, early childhood education, or related human service administration. CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED: Driver's license required upon hire. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate degree (master or doctorate level) in early childhood education. At least five years of experience working with early childhood education programs. Two or more years of experience providing professional development instruction for early childhood educators. Bilingual and fluent, both oral and written, in English and Spanish. NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: The appointee to the position must satisfactorily complete a criminal background check, Child Protective Services Registry check, driving record check, and tuberculosis test. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to lift up to 30 pounds. Ability to stand for 2 hours at a time. Ability to walk, negotiate or traverse property sites that may be undergoing construction or having terrain that is not level. Ability to operate keyboard driven equipment.
