We are currently seeking dependable, detail-oriented individuals to join our team as a District Porter in the Charleston, SC area. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys working independently, and is looking to earn supplemental income with a flexible evening schedule.
Position Overview: As a District Porter, you will be responsible for collecting bagged household waste and recyclables directly from residents’ doorsteps and transporting them to the community’s onsite compactor or dumpster. This position requires climbing stairs, handling waste in a safe and sanitary manner, and maintaining a clean and orderly compactor area at the end of each shift. You will complete multiple routes each night (typically 2–4 routes).
Key Responsibilities:
Utilize our workplace communication system, Slack. Your route plan will be posted daily by 5:00 PM in your dedicated Slack channel.
Arrive on time at your first assigned community (typically between 6:00 – 7:00 PM, depending on service day).
Collect trash and recyclables from each resident’s doorstep, including upper-level units (stair climbing required).
Use a leak-proof tote to transport waste to your truck, then dispose of it at the designated onsite compactor or dumpster.
Ensure the compactor/dumpster area is clean and safe upon completing your shift.
Provide professional, courteous service when interacting with residents.
Submit nightly service documentation, including:
Time-stamped photos at arrival and departure
Notes on any resident violations
Audit results
Schedule & Hours:
5 days per week: Sunday – Thursday
On-call: 2 weekends per month
Shift duration: 3 to 5 hours per night, based on route and pace
Weekly average: 25-30 hours, with potential for additional shifts depending on performance and availability
Maximum: Up to 5 shifts per week available
Compensation:
$150 per day
$100 per day for any Friday/Saturday coverage
W2 employment position
Pay issued via direct deposit on the 5th and 20th of each month
A valid bank account is required for payroll processing
Requirements: To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications:
Truck: A personal pickup truck is required for transporting waste.
Technology: A smartphone with an active data plan (for route communication and task verification).
Physical Fitness: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., climb stairs, and work in varying weather conditions without assistance.
