    Role Overview

    This role drives payroll accuracy and data integrity for a high-volume, union-support timekeeping operation. The Accounting Assistant 4 will perform end-to-end time entry validation, troubleshoot discrepancies, support internal customers, and maintain meticulous electronic records. The function demands precision, urgency, confidentiality, and consistent execution under tight deadlines.

    Core Responsibilities

    • Enter, track, and validate union time and effort data with high accuracy.

    • Support employees via email, phone, and in-office inquiries.

    • Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and timekeeping issues.

    • Perform routine arithmetic and reconciliation tasks (balancing timecards, validating entries).

    • Manage electronic filing, archiving, and documentation.

    • Collaborate with Payroll leadership and team members to meet stringent deadlines.

    • Maintain strict confidentiality of PII and sensitive financial data.

    • Operate standard business tools: Outlook, Excel, Word, and ERP payroll/timekeeping systems.

    Must-Have Skills

    • 3+ years payroll experience in a mid-size to large organization.

    • Strong knowledge of accounting, payroll processes, time charging controls, and compliance.

    • Proven ability to research and resolve time and effort issues quickly.

    • High accuracy with arithmetic and data validation.

    • Demonstrated reliability with excellent attendance and ability to support occasional after-hours work.

    • Strong communication skills: customer service, internal collaboration, written and verbal.

    • Experience using ERP time & labor or financial systems.

    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).

    Preferred / Nice-to-Have

    • Exposure to complex union payroll environments.

    • Experience supporting high-volume timekeeping teams.

    • Additional business coursework, certifications, or payroll-related training.

    • Familiarity with data integration workflows between payroll and financial systems.

    Position Structure

    • Hybrid, with telework flexibility.

    • 40 hours/week, standard timesheet cadence.

    • No travel required.

    • Not temp-to-hire; contingent role supporting a new project.
