MORTGAGE LOAN UNDERWRITER

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Maintain and cultivate an collaborative working relationship with loan originator and production staff to facilitate loan production process.

• Review and verify all income & asset documentation, in accordance with internal Quality Control procedures, and ensuring Ability to Repay standards are met

• Perform analysis of credit history and credit report, and conduct liabilities analysis

• Review and analyze Collateral documents, such as: Appraisal, Purchase Contract, Escrow Instructions and Property Inspection Report

• Run, read and interpret credit reports, approval and AUS results

• Perform analysis of complex tax returns, inclusive of individual and self-employed borrowers.

• Prepare Loan approval memorandum and present loan strengths and weaknesses to individuals with approval authority according to credit and underwriting guideline.

• Sign-off on Loan Conditions

• Prepare and submit to Investor for approval

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience

• Three to five years of mortgage underwriting experience, including Non-QM, FHA, VA and HUD loans

• DE certified underwriter preferred.

• Good mathematical skills

• Proficient computer skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• This position offers the ability for remote work if certain requirements are met and have been granted approval from your manager.

• Strong knowledge of Federal and State lending laws.

• Working knowledge of Encompass
