This is a Machinist role which involves operating CNC and/or manual machining equipment to produce precision components in accordance with engineering specifications and quality standards. The positions support production goals while maintaining safety, compliance, and high-quality output. Entry-level hires will start as operators, learn on the job, and be paired with experienced machinists for training until comfortable. The shop performs all programming at the machine, and roles can be matched to candidates' strengths (e.g., milling, turning, grinding).

    Responsibilities

    • Operate CNC and/or manual mills, lathes, and other machining tools to produce precision components.
    • Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
    • Monitor machining operations and make necessary adjustments for quality and efficiency.
    • Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers).
    • Inspect own work and maintain accurate production and inspection records.
    • Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area.
    • Assist with basic machine maintenance and troubleshooting.
    • Collaborate with team members to resolve issues and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Be reliable, maintain good attendance, and contribute positively to team culture.

    Requirements

    • High school diploma or GED required; technical/vocational/trade school background preferred (or strong aspiration to work as a machinist).
    • Some experience in a machining environment (entry-level acceptable with willingness to learn).
    • Ability and willingness to work as an operator and learn on the job.
    • Ability to use and learn basic inspection instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers) and inspect own work.
    • Strong reliability, good attendance, and positive team-oriented attitude (highly valued over pure technical skills).
    • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally, and demonstrate manual dexterity and visual acuity for precision work.
    • Good communication and teamwork skills.
    • Commitment to quality, safety, and compliance with industry regulations.

    Preferred Requirements

    • 1–3+ years of machining experience (CNC or manual)
    • Experience with machine operation, basic programming, tooling offsets, and confidence with machine tools.
    • Familiarity with precision measuring instruments and blueprint reading.

    Compensation/Benefits

    • Hourly Pay: $22–$25/hr for candidates with little to no experience; up to $28/hr for those with more skills (e.g., programming, tooling offsets).
    • Comprehensive benefits package, including:
      • ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) – employees are financial stakeholders.
