This role requires expert-level, on-machine programming, process optimization, and precision setups. It is ideal for a highly skilled machinist who excels at high-accuracy, low-volume/high-mix work directly from engineering drawings.

    Responsibilities

    • Lead setup, programming, and operation of multi-axis CNC mills, lathes, and/or manual equipment.
    • Develop optimized machining strategies for complex aerospace and high-performance components.
    • Partner with engineering teams to design fixtures, select tooling, and refine manufacturing processes.
    • Perform detailed dimensional inspections using precision measurement tools and optical comparators.
    • Diagnose complex machining issues, support root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
    • Serve as a technical mentor and trainer for junior machining personnel.
    • Drive shop-floor continuous improvement initiatives targeting cycle times, quality, and tool life.
    • Maintain accurate setup sheets, process documentation, and operational logs.

    Requirements

    • High school diploma or GED; associate degree or precision machining certification preferred.
    • 5+ years of hands-on machining experience with proven expertise in complex CNC setup and operation.
    • Demonstrated ability to program manually at the machine control (G-code and/or conversational) directly from blueprints.
    • Strong blueprint reading skills and practical fluency in GD&T.
    • Proficiency with advanced inspection tools (micrometers, height gauges, comparators).
    • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
    • Reliable attendance, strong problem-solving skills, and a team-oriented mindset.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Familiarity with conversational controls (Mazatrol, Hurco) or various multi-axis machine platforms.
    • Exposure to CAD/CAM systems.
    • Experience with specialized grinding operations (surface grinding, OD grinding).
    • Prior experience mentoring or leading junior machinists.

    Compensation & Benefits

    • Competitive hourly pay rate commensurate with experience ($28–$40/hr depending on qualifications).
    • Full benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, retirement match, performance bonuses, tuition reimbursement, and paid time off.
