    Students Without Mothers is dedicated to helping high school students without mothers help themselves be empowering them to continue their education. SWM IS OFFERING TWO PROJECTS.

    PROJECT A TITLE: NONPROFIT DEVELOPMENT INTERN

    JOB FUNCTION: Business Development; Fundraising; Grant Writing; Data Management; Research KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: ● Assisting with developing effective email communication to send out to potential donors and sponsors using an existing database ● Manage the process of identifying potential grant opportunities by searching foundations available through an existing database and assist with submitting grant proposals ● Create and maintain an excel spreadsheet of all communication to be used for future follow up IDEAL SKILLS OR QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED: ● Excellent verbal and written communication skills ● Proficient with Excel ● Interest or experience with the organization's mission – providing college readiness to include scholarships and life coaching, for students who have lost their mother due to death or other unfortunate circumstances – a plus EXPECTED INTERN EXPERIENCE OUTCOMES: successful grant applications; new donors for the organization OTHER OPPORTUNITIES ASSOCIATED WITH THIS JOB: excellent opportunity to learn more about the operations of a small non-profit as this opportunity involves working directly with the Executive Director; learn more about life coaching, grief coaching, what kinds of housing and social resources may be needed and available for students in need. ANTICIPATED TIME REQUIREMENTS: 10-30 hours per week START AND END DATES: Flexible WORK MODEL: Remote PAY DETAILS: Unpaid but eligible for Yale Student Experience Award or other funding for internships with nonprofit organizations.


    PROJECT B TITLE: NONPROFIT WEBSITE DEVELOPER JOB FUNCTION: Graphic Design; web developer; Computer Programming KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Review existing WordPress website; research and suggest and implement new design, layout and user interface through WordPress that can be maintained in the future by organization staff. IDEAL SKILLS OR QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED: familiarity with WordPress or website coding (JavaScript, Python, HTML, CSS or similar) and design; ability to present and explain mock-ups or beta sites to stakeholders before finalizing EXPECTED INTERN EXPERIENCE OUTCOMES: new website for organization OTHER OPPORTUNITIES ASSOCIATED WITH THIS JOB: excellent opportunity to learn more about the operations of a small non-profit as this opportunity involves working directly with the Executive Director; learn more about life coaching, grief coaching, what kinds of housing and social resources may be needed and available for students in need. ANTICIPATED TIME REQUIREMENTS: 10-35 hours per week START AND END DATES: 8 weeks; flexible start and end dates WORK MODEL: Remote PAY DETAILS: Unpaid but eligible for Yale Student Experience Award or other funding for internships with nonprofit organizations.
