    Technical Accounting Consulting: Strategic Finance and FP&A Associate

    RSM US is currently seeking an Associate to join our TAC practice within our Strategic Finance and FP&A solution set. We advise clients on strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions, capital markets readiness, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), budgeting, and capital structure optimization throughout various stages of a company’s life cycle via in-depth consulting and financial modeling. 

    The ideal Associate candidate has a proven academic track record with working knowledge of corporate finance, valuation, and financial accounting concepts. Candidates must demonstrate a strong intellectual curiosity in strategic and corporate finance and be driven to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. Strong proficiency in financial modeling is required for any candidate to be considered. Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to work within a tight-knit team are also required.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Support managers, supervisors and senior associates by participating in all aspects of executing current and prospective client engagements

    • Develop and maintain financial models to forecast financial results and perform additional value-add analyses including valuations, prospective M&A, and strategic/long-term planning

    • Perform comprehensive and in-depth company and industry research

    • Stay up to date on current business and economic issues relevant to the client’s business and provide value-add insights

    • Attend client meetings and manage deliverable progress against internal and external deadlines

    • Consistently deliver quality client services by demonstrating in-depth technical capabilities and professional knowledge

    • Participate in client meetings and other client interactions to gain exposure to and develop relationships with internal leadership/counterparts

    • Conduct research, participate in strategic planning, and assist in the business development of the Strategic Finance and FP&A team

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Liberal Arts, or a related field

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to succinctly explain interrelationship of three financial statements

    • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to comfortably interact with clients

    • Proficiency in financial modeling in Excel and creating presentation materials in PowerPoint

    • Highly self-motivated and self-directed, with demonstrated ability to be proactive and work in a high-growth/fast-paced setting

    • Prior internship experience in relevant field such as investment banking, private equity, and equity/credit research is a plus

    • Prior experience working with financial analytics models and tools in MS Excel and experience with one or more of the following: VBA, MS Access, SQL Server, Data Visualization applications (such as Tableau, Power BI, or Spotfire), and Alteryx is a plus

    • Willingness to travel up to 25% to meet client needs
