  • Responsibilities

    The Bloomberg Data Externship, our signature program for 2025 graduates, gives you exposure to what it's like to be a Data Analyst on Bloomberg’s Princeton Campus. The program will touch on financial markets, real-life data analysis application, and give you access to Bloomberg leadership and professional development training – all while experiencing a unique company culture built on our values of diversity, inclusion and philanthropy. You’ll also gain early access to apply to our 2024 summer internship program. We’ll prepare you for the internship application process and provide insights to making the most of a career in Data.    

    Over the five-day program, you’ll experience firsthand how Data Analysts use analysis and technical skills to acquire, process and standardize the vast amounts of market data fed to our clients. You will: 

    • Participate in a case study with data professionals and present your results to members of Bloomberg’s Data leadership team
    • Gain exposure to the iconic Bloomberg Terminal and hone your technical skills 
    • Enhance your professionalism and interpersonal skills through networking events and development activities
    • Hear from our Diversity & Inclusion leaders about Bloomberg’s efforts to enhance our inclusive workplace 
    • Experience Bloomberg's culture of service by contributing to a community event alongside Bloomberg Philanthropies

    Who can apply?

    • Our 2023 Data Analyst Externship is open to students graduating between December 2024 and June 2025 who identify as Black, Hispanic/Latinx, Native American, and/or first-generation college students.   
    • You must be actively working towards a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university and be available to attend for the duration of the program, which runs from May 22- 26 in Princeton, New Jersey.  
    • You must be legally authorized to work full-time in the United States and not require visa sponsorship now or in the future. 
    • You must be open to 2024 summer internship opportunities and available to commit to the 10-week program running, from June to August 2024, in our Princeton, New Jersey office.

    What do we look for?

    • Recent work experience, internship or coursework in Finance, Business, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or any related field  
    • A strong passion for data, technology and finance
    • A desire to learn, grow and be flexible in a fast-paced environment
    • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills
    • Beginner or intermediate skills in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, SQL, R, etc.) and/or data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, Tableau, etc.)
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to uphold our superior customer experience
