    Job Description

    KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools seeks teachers for our summer school classrooms for Summer 2025. Interested candidates don’t have to be current KIPP Jacksonville employees to apply for this position, but they should already have certificated fingerprints on file with Duval County.

    Teachers are assigned one grade level and are responsible for creating a positive classroom environment, implementing curriculum, assessing students, collaborating with their team, building relationships with families, and other duties as assigned. Full teacher responsibilities are ultimately outlined by the summer school admin team.

    We will be partnering with Teach for America for summer school this year. Summer school teachers need to be comfortable having a second adult in the room with them as incoming Teach for America corps members will complete pre-service training at our school site.

    Summer school will take place at our campus at 1440 McDuff Ave N. This is the only summer school site this year.

    OUR CURRENT MODEL

    Summer school will run from June 8, 2026, through July 2, 2026. The program will take place Monday through Friday, with teacher hours from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM.

    If selected for a summer school teaching position, the required professional development will be held on June 4th and June 5th. Class sizes are expected to range from 20–25 students.

    We will be offering summer school for the following grade levels and content areas:

    • K-12 ESE

    • 3rd Grade - reading and math

    • 4th - 7th Grade - math

    • 8th Grade - math (including pre-algebra), civics, reading

    • High School - math (Algebra), reading, ACT prep

    COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

    • Internal candidates will be paid their normal hourly rate in addition to any salaried pay they're scheduled to receive throughout the summer.

    • External candidates will be paid an hourly rate aligned to the salary they would be offered for a full-time job offer. At a minimum, this would be $24/hour.

    A note for external candidates: Some candidates may be interested in joining the KIPP Jacksonville Team and Family full-time as a lead teacher for the 2026-27 school year after summer school ends. KIPP’s benefits package for full-time salaried employees includes:

    Bachelor's Degree

    • Relevant Florida Teaching Certification for the grade level you’ll be teaching:

      • 3rd Grade: Either PreK-3 or K-6 certified AND reading endorsed.

      • 4th Grade: K-6

      • 5th Grade: K-6 or Middle Grades Math 5-9

      • 6th Grade: K-6, Middle Grades Math 5-9 or Math 6-12

      • 7th Grade: Middle Grades Math 7-9 or math 6-12

      • 8th Grade: Middle Grades 5-9 or Secondary 6-12 in English, Math, or Social Studies

      • High School: Middle Grades 5-9 or Secondary 6-12 in English or Math

    • Positive attendance record

    • In good standing with your current school

    • Must be able to fully commit to all instructional days

    • At least one complete year of teaching experience with a proven track record of high achievement in the classroom
