    GEO Next Generation High School – Indianapolis is a part of a network of high-quality charter schools managed by the GEO Foundation. It joins 21st Century Charter at Gary, Gary Middle College East and Gary Middle College West in delivering a high-quality learning experience to parents and students in Indiana. GEO Next Generation High School is a tuition-free, public charter school. Our teachers cultivate critical thinking skills students need to understand how the world works around them. Our dedicated faculty are committed to providing an outstanding education for students each day as they transition from middle school to high school and COLLEGE. Through our partnership with the local community college, our students will be able to take dual credit courses with the opportunity to earn college credit at no cost to the student.     REPORTS TO/TERM:

    Principal and GEO Administration

    This is a 10-month position.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    A Master’s Degree in Social Work

    Valid Indiana License

    3-5 years’ experience in an urban school environment

    Essential Key Functions:

    A Social Worker performs the following duties:

    Collaborate with Principals, Dean of Students, High School Counselor, SPED,

    Nurse and School Leadership Team to provide Social Services to students

    Collaborate on Behavior Intervention Plans

    Train school staff in drug, violence, trafficking, and trauma responsive practices

    Implement drug and violence prevention programs

    Maintain case files and report to track student progress and problems

    Collaborate on functional behavior assessments

    Assist in conducting threat assessments

    Educate students and school staff about bullying and harassment prevention

    Implement programs that support dropout prevention and re-entry

    Implement child sexual abuse awareness and prevention programs

    Provide social emotional learning regarding interventions that build resilience, self -control, empathy, persistence, and other social and behavioral skills

    Provide individual and group counseling to students

    Attend IEP conferences as necessary

    Attend all required staff meetings

    Work as a team member
