Clinical Assistant for Ophthalmology Clinic - Travel - Days - Arcadia, CA
JOB OVERVIEW:
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have a minimum of 2 years Clinical Assistant for Ophthalmology Clinic work experience in an acute hospital setting as Clinical Assistant.
High school graduate or equivalent.
Demonstrate the highest level of professionalism when interacting with patients, families, physicians, and hospital staff members.
Verify medical insurance, schedule patients for 10 physicians, register and checks-in/out patients upon their arrival.
Acts as a patient navigator by assisting the patient with insurance related issues and assuring a patient has coverage and authorization to be seen for care.
Obtains authorizations, calls for benefits, opens cases with insurance companies, counsels' patients on obtaining 100% active coverage and establishes/maintains active relationships with medical groups and insurance companies.
Coordinate clinic schedules, patient appointments and follow up.
Answers patient phone calls, verify insurance benefits, prepare charts for clinic and prepare charge tickets for clinic visits.
Coordinate scheduling of all surgeries and diagnostic testing for patients which include.
Sending pre-op packets to patients with surgery instructions, prepare surgery charge tickets and compile letters of medical necessity.
Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Familiarity with word processing, IDX, Cerner, PBAR and scheduling software is preferred.
In depth knowledge of all insurance types, including HMO, PPO and government health programs
