    Job Description

    The Supplier Quality Engineer will work as a key member within the Quality team to support the development and validation of 24M’s supply chain. The Supplier Quality Engineer will be responsible for evaluating new suppliers, working with existing suppliers on continuous improvement activities, and managing the handoff of key portions of the supply base to our development partners. Strong interpersonal skills are required, as are a strong work ethic and an ability to flourish in a dynamic startup environment.  The expected duties include but are not limited to:

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Coordinates with Engineering on new material needs and evaluation of new suppliers
    • Interfaces directly with suppliers to follow up on quality and performance issues; manages Supplier Corrective Action Requests.
    • Performs on-site and remote supplier quality audits for new suppliers; participates in supplier approval process.
    • Documents and follows up on audit results and required actions to be addressed by the supplier.
    • Tracks, analyzes, and reports supplier performance metrics to stakeholders within quality, engineering, and operations management.
    • Manages a database of suppliers including supplier audit results, supplier maturity, and status.
    • Performs problem analysis, process, and machine capability studies as required; determines and proposes statistical process controls for appropriate supplier processes.
    • Ensures appropriate quality data is received along with parts and identifies incoming inspection needs; manages quality aspects of 24M material receiving
    • Manages internal NCM and MRB systems
    • Serves as role model for quality thinking and behaviors.
    • Assists with various projects as assigned by direct supervisor.
    • Other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS:  REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND, AND/OR LICENSES

    • Experience with standard supplier quality toolset: Supplier Audits, Corrective Action Management, Continuous Improvement Tools
    • Familiarity with key quality standards: ISO 9001, AITF 16949, ISO 13485
    • Experience working with vendors on process improvement activities

    _ _REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

    • BS/MS in a Scientific or Engineering Discipline (Chemical Engineering or Materials Science preferred)
    • Start-up experience and experience implementing new processes are a plus
    • 6+ years of relevant experience with quality systems
    • 6+ years of relevant experience with supplier development, preferred experience with suppliers of plastic films, chemical liquids and powders, and other battery components

    Additional Information

    PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL STANDARDS

    • Capable of working in low moisture dry room environment: < 1.0% Relative Humidity (-50°C dew point)
    • Capable of wearing clean room attire when working in dry room environment: face mask, hair net, safety glasses, gloves, coverall suit and shoe covers
    • Travel will be required in support of supplier development activities, audits, &c.
