    BACKGROUND


    Carmen Schools of Science & Technology (Carmen) is a small but growing charter school network with a mission to graduate all students as critical thinkers and self-directed learners prepared for success in college, meaningful careers, community involvement, and family life. As part of this mission, Carmen takes pride in providing students transportation to transformational experiences that allow them to explore and pursue their passions and careers.

    POSITION SUMMARY


    The driver will operate agency vehicles to transport students to and from businesses in the Greater Milwaukee area and the Waukesha/Pewaukee areas. The primary responsibility of this driver will be transporting students in Carmen's internship program to/from their place of employment on Tuesday, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Carmen can be flexible for the right individuals in order to accommodate drivers' schedules while meeting student needs.

    QUALIFICATIONS


    • At least 21 years of age
    • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record - must (at minimum) meet these guidelines
    • High School Diploma or GED Certificate required
    • Ability to provide excellent customer service with good verbal communication skills
    • Must be able to comprehend instructions and follow directions, both written and verbal
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule including early weekday mornings, and/or afternoon/evenings shifts (more information below)
    • Reliable and accountable individual committed to serving Carmen's students

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


    • Provide safe transportation of Carmen students to/from career exploration and extracurricular opportunities

      • We are currently looking for a driver to take on a route each Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings from 8 AM - 9:30 AM. Currently we can guarantee 6 hours each week, with additional opportunities for hours likely.
      • Additional hours and transportation needs are available, pending applicant's availability
    • Ensure vehicles are well maintained, supporting the Director of Career Programs and Partnerships in identifying and handling necessary repairs and upkeep

    • Coordinate routes and transportation schedules in collaboration with the Career Readiness Team, Athletic Director, and other relevant school and network staff

    • Cultivate a safe and welcoming environment for students during transportation, ensuring students abide by transportation guidelines and demonstrate respect for the vehicle, driver, and one another

    WORK ENVIRONMENT


    The position will work predominantly Monday – Friday, requiring occasional evening and weekend work as necessary.
