Harvest is a pre-seed startup building a comprehensive platform to help small business owners exit their businesses. Owners of small and medium-sized businesses assets collectively worth $4 trillion will retire in the USA during the next two decades. Today only 40% manage to sell, prices often fall short of expectations and owners struggle to protect employees, customers and their legacies. Harvest is building the tools and support to enable successful exits. We have a clear plan of how to fix the market for buying and selling SMBs. We have demonstrated early traction in securing channel partners, helped in part by our outstanding network of advisors and investors.

Our CEO, Adam Carley, has a personal connection to the challenges faced by small business owners, as the child of an SMB owner who is yet to sell and retire. Adam spent the last 10 years leading product at two start-ups that exited for $100 million and $400 million and previously worked at McKinsey & Company. Harvest is backed by 25madison, an experienced venture investor and studio founded by executives from Softbank, Goldman Sachs and more. Harvest also has an experienced team of advisors with extensive expertise and reputations in SMB exits.

    The opportunity

As the founding engineer, you will play a key role in shaping our early product. You will be part of a collaborative team comprised of Harvest's CEO, CTO, product designer, our 25madison partners, and our senior advisors, that determines the design and functionality of the product. You will play a key role in selecting the technology stack, defining the technical architecture, leading development, and managing the product in production. You will work closely with early customers and channel partners, incorporating their feedback to improve the product and ensure that we fit with their existing ways of working (e.g., standards, policies, compliance). You will help recruit future engineering hires and help establish our engineering culture.
